So Danny is off to pastures new, he is a player who has divided opinion, and I have made mine known on here before so I won't go over old ground here. I realise that depending how long you have been a supporter, the more there are to choose from but where does Danny fit into the pantheon of Gillingham strikers. For me as someone who has being going for 25 years he would make the top 20, so that's better than Hislop and Mulligan but someway behind the likes of Taylor and Asaba.

Average striker at Div 2 level. Wouldn't feature very high in my top 8000. Scoring record excluding penalties nothing much to write home about. Not a great.

Keds was massively underrated, as a striker his goal scoring record wasn't brilliant but he linked the the midfield and the forward line better than anyone for a long time in a Gills shirt, we always seemed to play better with him in the team than without. Admittedly I think he has reached his level at L1 but I still think he had plenty to give at this level, it is a shame to see a player who cars as much as the fans about the club go.

Maybe not a "Great" but certainly deserves more respect than some give him. He always gave his all, gave everything to and for the club, and more. There have been many "better" players than him who haven't given half as much.

    Lived the fans dream.

He has a league winners medal? How many "Greats" have done that with the Gills?

I wish him all the best for the future, not just as a player but as a coach and as whatever his future holds for him.

    Agree Gemini.
I beielve only one player in Gills history can lay claim to scoring the goal that officially won us a Championship.

I think we officially won our first in 63 whilst not actually playing. Or am I making that up?

All the best Keds. Maybe not a Gills 'great', but a Gills 'legend' for that goal, his efforts and his being a fan - one of Gills few.

Bit like Andy Thomson is a "legend" in my eyes for his Wembley winner.

Actually it was George Francis on 30th April 1964. Gills beat Newport County ( away ) 1-0. ( last day of the season )

There were some strange statistics in Division 4 that year. In September Carlisle ( runners-up ) lost to Hartlepool 0-6, yet two weeks later reversed the result with a 7-1 win. Gills had their biggest crowd of the season, over 17,000 against Carlisle in September - and yet, in March ( when at the top of the league ) we could only manage a little over 5500 against Chester.

Good but not great as a player. Great as a club servant and ambassador.
Great players, at our level either get snapped up eg, Taylor, Cascarino, Bruce, Jarvis etc or achieve greatness in the autumn of their playing days like Yeo and stay on. till the end.

I wish him all the best and thank him......

Very good servant for the club and put his heart and soul into every match. Wish him all the best and won't ever be forgotten. Top goalscorer in our championship year. Well done Keds and Good luck.
