Danny Ings joins Gomez in the ACL injry club, and very saddly his season looks over. Look Gomez I feel gutted for him as he was doing great.

Liverpool striker Danny Ings will miss the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

The 23-year-old frontman suffered the knee injury in training at Melwood on Wednesday and a scan has revealed the extent of the damage.

It’s the second crushing blow for new boss Jurgen Klopp in the space of 24 hours after young Joe Gomez suffered the same injury playing for England Under-21s against Kazakhstan at Coventry City on Tuesday night.

The devastating setback arrived just two days after Ings came off the bench to make his full England debut against Lithuania.

Ings was taking part in his first session after being away on international duty and pulled up after an innocuous challenge at the club’s Melwood training ground.

He will now undergo surgery and is facing between six and nine months on the sidelines.

Ings had forced himself into Roy Hodgson’s squad after an impressive start to his Liverpool career following his summer move from Burnley.

He has scored three goals in five starts for the Reds and marked his first Merseyside derby with a goal against Everton at Goodison a fortnight ago.

Now he is facing a lengthy rehabilitation programme and is unlikely to play again until next season.

He was playing well and he works hard so it is a bad injury for us. We have cover up top so no emergency though.

Really bad luck that. He'd been doing alright in the last few games as well.

    Shame for the lad.

They say it comes in 3's...................if weetabix legs goes over on Saturday then that'll make the full set.

Unfortunately the cover is Studge who is brittle and Probably shouldn't be doing 90 minutes, Benteke who is injured and had a poor start to the season, and Origi who looks to be a poor man's N'Gog.

Benteke should recover and get better but until then we only have injury boy and Origi.

Unbelievable. Two season outers in a couple of days. Wishing all the best to them both for a quick recovery

  10. Since the media claimed that the tribunal fee may increase following Ings' international debut despite it happening after he joined us, lets see if they claim the injury will deflate the inevitable tribunal fee ruling <whistle>

    Swift recovery, lad.

Nearly as unlucky as Bournemouth who lost Mings and Gradel to season ending injuries at the start of the season.

Wtf is going on at either England training or LFC training prior to Klopp!!!

Our players appear to have been reduced to glass!

Not good when bringing in a manager who is only going to up their training intensity....

Real shame for both lads Gomez and Ings, speedy recovery <ok>

Fortunately [looking for the good in a bad situation] Klopp takes all this in his stride and as we haven't played a game yet, neither player has started to be integral to the new 'us' so no stop-gap adjustments necessary.
