Leicester have just (apparently ) bid 8.5 for Danny Ings......Gutted as I'd like us to go for him. Think he'll cost a bit more than that though Been printed in the Mail but I dont have the link. Him and Charlie up front would be good together i think. Thoughts?
Defences wouldn't get a minutes rest with those two. I'd be amazed if they sell him though - it'd be like admitting relegation IMO.
I read in one of the papers today that Austin who was interesting Liverpool, Newcastle and Spurs was valued at £8million. Ings is £8.5m? Lallana went to Liverpool for £25m! Shane Long went to Southampton for £12m. I reckon Ing's is worth about £6m.
.....and of course Ross McCormack who moved from Leeds to Fulham in July 2014 for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £6 million fee with an extra £5 million in add ons depending on promotion. In 21 games for Fulham he has scored 5 goals. In comparison, Charlie, rejected by Hull, was a real steal at £4 million with 28 goals in 46 appearances for us.
I can't imagine Burnley will sell him in January. Certainly not to another relegation rival. He would be what Charlie is to us. Maybe they get relegated in May and we stay up we would have a chance of getting. You would think statistically Leicester are down so we would have no competition off them come May.
Ings contract is up in the summer which is why the price is lower than it should be. Plus they'll reject that anyway as too low and too important But unless Leicester pick up a few wins between now and January he surely wouldn't go there. Ings in summer when contract is up would be top of my list. If we can get Austin a new contract and somehow sign up Ings then we really would be heading in right direction (provided we stay up)
Burnley said recently Ings is not for sale and he'd be barmy signing for Leicester, out of the frying pan into their fire. They are in a desperate position and will find it difficult to sign any decent players similar to us two years ago...
Spot on...I'd love to have Ings in the squad but why would Burnley ever sell one of their greatest assets in the fight for survival, it would be like us selling Charlie, almost a sign of resignation.
So lets offer the 10 Mill and test their resolve then? know we want away from big signings but he wopuld have long term future resale value to the team. Imagine him and Charlie together...they'd be a nightmare for defenders...Just a thought ! No matter if Burnley stay up or not, they will prob lose him in the summer as his contract is up soon. We may just have enough to tempt them to cash in now or lose everything in the summer. Whats the harm in tying !!?
I thought we were only having a couple of loans this window? We would only spend big money on Ings as a replacement for Austin, I fear. I would much prefer to keep Austin and get Poldolski in on loan.....don't laugh, he doesn't get much game time, always scores when he does, and has been told he has to play more to stay in the german squad.
Why can't we just get Del Piero in for a few weeks? Leicester were linked with Heskey for gods sake! We lack an ageing Galactico, Rio not withstanding
"you would think statistically Leicester are down" ...er, no!! Far from down at this stage although I certainly agree with your view that Burnley would be unlikely (and crazy) to sell - least of all to an obvious relegation rival.
Poldolski & Charlie up front......we might not be great defensively but we could certainly out score the opposition....weekly goal fests.... Wouldn't that be fun?
Agree. Leicester have got to try and buy some good Championship players or EPL players who aren't getting first team regular... players who are up for fighting for survival to earn themselves EPL football next season. In fact, we could do with some players like that.
here's how it works: - some plonker on a message board (i.e. me) dreams up a bit of complete fantasy - an even sadder wannabe journo blogger type who cannot research for himself (it'll always be a man) reads the message board, and blogs the fantasy as speculation - an incredibly idle and illiterate mainstream journo pinches what has been blogged and prints it - someone brings it to Redknapp's attention. He denies it but tiny cogs start turning - out of the blue on January 31st we get Podolski on loan - he's crocked first game....... Pure force of will can change history. If we all start repeating this as fact it's nailed on.
