Liverpool FC are delighted to announce that they have agreed personal terms with Danny Ings and, subject to a medical, the striker will join the club on July 1 after his contract with Burnley has expired.
The 22-year-old struck 11 goals in 35 Barclays Premier League appearances last season, which was his first in the top flight.
Ings had found the target 21 times in the previous campaign to help the Clarets secure promotion from the Championship.
The forward has nine caps for England U21s, with four goals to date too, and will represent his country at the U21 European Championship later this month.
Ings faced the Reds twice in 2014-15, featuring for 90 minutes at Anfield in March.

Says it all really the way the club are going, downwards not upwards, good player but would any top 4 club buy him, no. Average mid table player, I hope I eat my words, like I thought with balotelli and the other waster.

I think it's a similar situation to Milner in that as long as this isn't our main business and that this is just adding to the squad with big name signings on the way later in the window then I'm happy with it.

2 free signings that improve the overall quality of the squad fine, now where are the big names Brendan?

The most important that Ings wants to play for Liverpool, I think he can get better and better.
If a player is as good as Messi and he does not want to play for you, forget it.

More mediocrity. But basically agree with both Luvster and Dribster. If we're just improving squad first with players who want to be here then as long as some proper talent comes in at some point it's fine.

I have a sinking feeling that this is 'main business' though and much like last summer we'll be getting another flood of mediocrity and 'potential', which is really just the club dressing up the only dross it was able or bothered to negotiate deals for as something better than that.

These free signings were always going to be the first 2 announced as they are easy to complete quickly.

Bigger signings are more complicated and will take longer.

Dont see this as a sign of cheapo things. There was no way it would be any different.

There is plenty of time for bigger signings.

Well Kovacic is already looking likely.

I expect less signings this summer so we could only see 3 or 4 more. Kovacic, another striker, a CB or FB and a GK.

I'd favour this as I think 8 signings last summer was disruptive.

Not a terrible signing but he certainly isn't about to drag you back in to the top 4.

We have brought in two players who want to be at the club and that can only be a good thing. Milner brings us a bit of everything and I do rate Ings, I think he will go above and beyond to get us goals. And both were free. Good business i think, still would like to see more come in and some decent backroom staff....Pako and either Carra or Sami Hyyppia.

The Rafa situation all over again. Spend a lot on many players instead of spending it on less better players. Is the club that afraid of high wages and transfer fees. Carroll is still our record signing and Lallana second <yikes>

We will never compete with those above us if that is how we are going to proceed.

Neither of these players fix our defendive and midfield problems obviously.

Backrrom staff could be Steve McMannaman. He's quite prominent among the youth coaches.

I think we need some older, wiser heads. David Moyes doomed himself by hiring inexperienced coaches (Neville, Scholes, Giggs). He hired them purely on sentiment and it ruined him.

rodgers himself is young so who would he turn to?

then the next question has to be... who would the person behind the changes turn to?

mcmanaman again is one shout. folwer has done his badges... does it qualify them to run a senior training session.. nope. If they work with youths and reserves and build up over time then yeah i'd say ok i can see it.

well he'd have to suck it up. he is managing reading now so i sincerely doubt he's up for a "demotion" as he'd see it to be anyones assistant.

Roy keane doing it at villa in effect said.. my career is over.
