Is he still here? and Has he played pre season? And also, Does anyone think he can make it in this league? I did last season and was gutted when he was loaned out, especially when we were crying out of a holding midfielder. But yeah, would be nice to be up to date with him
Yes, still playing Ted - came on second half at Welling. Can't see him making the starting line-up but very useful to have in reserve.
Yes, I think he has played as much as most of the squad. Started against Wimbledon and was sub today and against Gibraltar and St Mirren (not that there is much significance in who started and who was sub as CP has mixed the teams around). He was one of my favourites in Div One and one I was confident could step up, but it all went a bit wonky. The official story is that it was just a question of an injury but I suspect there were other factors. He will definitely be out of the team all the time Hughes and Jackson are fit and on form, as you couldn't really play all three together, but with their injury histories his chance will come. I am less confident he will take it than I was, though. And he now has Cousins breathing down his neck.
I hope you are right. I hope Green, Stephens and Evina are all like new signings too. If all four deliver what they are capable of, and we only saw in glimpses last season, we will have a formidable team. I thought Hughes had only come here once his playing career was finished, like Euell. Never thought he would replace Hollands in the team. But the fact is that our results have been better with him in the team. That could be a fluke, but he was loved by the Leeds fans.
Our number two is fantastic 'Cause when he plays for Charlton Athletic We never lose with Andy Hughes
Agree with this, Super. What he gives us is time, it might only be a couple of seconds as he shields the ball then distributes, but it gives the rest of the midfield and the forwards a chance to gain vital yards and push forward. He's also caught with the ball way less than any other of the midfield, making him a secure option to pass to when you're under pressure. It was noticeable in the Welling game that almost all the forward movement started with him and he was constantly moving into positions where he could receive the ball and release players forward. There's another thing though - it seems to me that his zest for the game has been rekindled by his long layoff and the prospect, which looked likely for quite a while, that he may have had to pack it in. He's already spoken of his gratitude to The Good Doctor for sticking by him, and I think we may be seeing some of this gratitude being repaid. Back to Danny Hollands, I've been speaking to my Swindon contact who says they're still very interested in him on either a loan or transfer basis.
I vaguely remember an article somewhere at the begging of Summer with Powell saying that he would listen to offers for all of Danny Hollands, Danny Green and Dale Stephens.
James Collins sold by Swindon to Hibernian for only £200k - unbelievable. They must be in a worse financial state than us to accept this for an 18 goal striker. Don't think Danny Hollands will be moving to the County Ground any time soon.
