...... on a free transfer and a six month contract.

Been a fantastic servant to our club and I'm sad to see him go. All the best Danny I'll never forget how your goal helped us to Wembley!

He must love playing in red and white stripes, Southampton, Sunderland, Stoke and now Sheffield United! <laugh>

The Blades have strengthened the defensive options with the signing of versatile defender Danny Higginbotham from Stoke City until the end of the season.

Following the news that Neill Collins is likely to be sidelined for the next two months with a triple fracture to his cheekbone, Wilson has acted swiftly in drafting in Higginbotham, who has recently had a loan spell in the Championship at Ipswich Town.

Although the original deal is due to expire in the summer, the Blades have the option to extend the defender's stay.

The 34-year-old, who started his career at Manchester United, has a wealth of Premiership experience including lengthy spells with Southampton, Derby and Sunderland. He has nearly 350 league appearance to his name.

He is likely to feature in Tuesday's encounter at Doncaster Rovers.

Yes indeed Waddo, without the likes of Higgy, Stoke wouldn't be where they are.
Must admit though, Sheffield seems to be a retirement home for ex Stoke players:
    Kitson, Cresswell, Mama etc
