A host of clubs are battling to land Barnsley striker Danny Haynes, skysports.com understands.

The 23-year-old only moved to South Yorkshire in January when he arrived from Bristol City. But it already looks as if he could be leaving Oakwell less than 12 months into his career with the Tykes.

Skysports.com understands a number of Championship clubs are keeping close tabs on him. It is believed Portsmouth, Burnley, Leicester and Hull City are all monitoring the situation.

If Leicester are monitoring him, we might as well pull out of the race now :/

Although I'm surprised to hear our name mentioned, maybe they're just basing it on our interest earlier in the season? We've already got 4 strikers. Not that they seem likely to be capable of scoring a goal if the opposition had no goalkeeper at the moment.

His wiki/soccerbase page have him as a midfielder? I thought he was a striker, that could perhaps be the reason his goals per game ratio have taken a turn for the worse! He's been stuck on the wing!

He's a winger, I'm convinced of it. From memory he's a poor mans Ashley young.

A striker is a more pressing priority, depending on the fee get him in. Get rid of Simpson and Mclean. NP just doesnt have any faith in Simpson. Mclean we will only have paid maybe half of his transfer, try and offer him back to Posh. Adestrolla for 15 minutes at the end of games.
Please will people stop saying its only 2 games, its not. Its the whole of last season we couldnt score goals.

Mclean is just an annoying handful who makes things happen. I've got faith that when he plays, the team will score goals.

I hope this is true, but we more or less have been linked with every story Sky is releasing in the Championship so far.

If it is true, I think NP is realising what everyone one else is.

I hope we give McLean the chance in our next home game

I think this is the press just adding our name for fun.

Haynes is a Cameron Stewart clone; fast winger/forward.

Having said that we do lack pace up front.

In all honesty I would rather have Jacob Butterfield from Baaaaaarnsleh. He is a Wes Hoolahan clone.

Totally agree, but its very 'unlikehhhh'

Danny Haynes does however look a handful.

Against Macclesfield, Simmo didn't actually do anything, he needs to be dropped if McLean is back.

An answer to the question about McLean, I'm not sure really but I thought he just missed out against Blackpool . Il give him a tweet ;)

Apparently Nigel Pearson has stated the rumours we're interested are not true.

There is better than Danny Haynes lying around. The fun will soon start when the PL 25 man squads go in.
Transfer fees and wages will drop as players and there agents start to panic. Patience. Nothing has ever been achieved with knee jerk reactions.

Time to spend on Michael O'Conner as he is class when he gets back to full fitness.

Seem to Remember a Kevin Mcdonald do very well when he first signed for Burnley young Scottish Midfielder with an eye for goal.

    Isnt he on a free???

He is a free agent, but I'm not sure why you think he has an eye for goal, he scored 2 in 51 appearances for Burnley, we might as well play me. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Seemed to do very well against Arsenal in the cup.

The lads got goals in him.
