According to the sun online today! what are the thoughts if this is true? Personally i would not sell him in January, i think we must have as much strength as possible and Danny has shown with the right supply he will score goals. He seems like a decent guy as well,up front and honest and his recent comments about working harder and regaining his place are what everyone wants to hear. £5m pounds is a profit and im sure Laudrup could get a decent replacement for that, another thing to consider though is the fact DG is British!! we are running low on our British based players and if we move on the likes of Gower and Tate in January then we may have a problem, not 100% on this but its something to factor in i guess. For me the strikers/players that need to move on would be Lita Moore Tate Gower Danny Graham can still offer us something and we must remember that when he is on a hot streak it tends to pay off in goals!! he did get 14 in all compettitions which is not at all bad. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...784/Danny-Graham-a-5m-target-for-Norwich.html
It would be bad if we sold him to a club competeing with us around our level in the prem and he then hits his best form, he`s young and could get a lot better for us and we dont need the money to badly at the mo to strengthen at the back and front even more in jan and he gives a bit of strength in depth here .Theres others id rather get rid of before danny you know the usual suspects ?
For £5m I'd let him go. But it all depends what Laudrup's plans are. He may already have a couple of replacements lined up, so it's not possible to say whether DG should go or not when we don't know the full story. I don't think we need to worry about selling to Norwich though. That's just negative thinking. We should finish top 8 this season, and hopefully a little higher. I just don't get all thi stalk about avoiding relegation. We're in 10th place and are improving all the time. There is no way we'll get relegated, so let Norwich have DG. Agree with Norway's list of players that need to leave though. But we need a replacement for Monk before selling him.
I doubt if we'll make much profit out of 5 million if there is a sell on fee with Watford. I would say we have to trust Laudrup on this. He seemed unconcerned about losing Sigurdson as he had Michu lined up, didn't bother about Allen cos he had Ki, and was not worried in the slightest about Sinclair knowing there was Hernandez. Maybe Graham has even said that he wants a move which is why he isn't playing? Unlikely I know given what he's been saying lately, but who knows? In our Laud we trust
dgswan, "I don't think we need to worry about selling to Norwich though. That's just negative thinking. We should finish top 8 this season, and hopefully a little higher. I think thats a bit over confident before xmas as anything can happen re: more injuries, drops in form or not getting the players in jan that ML wants ! nothings guarenteed but we should finish above the bottom 3 this season hopefully a little higher ( very likely). Why feed the oposition our capable players when so much is at stake ? tactical trading by the management is a luxury we can afford at the moment so ML will use it ? I agree we dont know the whole story and if ML has others lined up that involve selling danny for a tidy profit after any pay offs to his old club if due then fair enough, but to a team that will defo stay up not one thats a threat to us if he hits a rich vain of form against us why risk it when we dont need to aye !
I wouldnt want Graham to leave, I think he's an intelligent player who holds it up well, uses his body pretty effectively, has some decent movement on him and works hard. Yes he's probably not scored as many goals as he should have and he's obviously a confidence player low on confidence but as several of you have said, if he gets a couple, he could go on a big run. He knows where the goal is and I believe he'll come good for us. Entertaining the thought of selling him is not an option in my eyes, Shechter looked alright the other day but it's way too soon to tell and as much as I've changed my tune about Luke Moore and have been impressed pretty often by him in recent times, I think hes a sub that can give us a more direct way forward or hold on to it later in a game, not a starter. With that in mind, you'd have to be so sure the guy you'd replace DG with is gonna score goals at a level he'll likely have never played at before.
If this is mere speculation the question is why? and I guess the answer is because he is not getting game time this season. Is that true? If it is, why is he not featuring week after week having scored 12 times last season?
I'd say I was confident not over-confident, although only time will tell. But selling to Norwich could work against us as well. Suppose we need Norwich to beat a team we're in the bottom 4 with, but they don't beat them and we get relegated? They might have won with DG. So in that scenario, not selling him would have got us relegated. Don't forget that they play other teams as well, and if DG hots form for them they won't be in the relegation zone, but other teams down there will have less points because DG helped Norwich beat them I just think it's going a bit far to not sell to specific teams just in case we both happen to be fighting relegation. Seems unlikely to me and not something worth worrying about. We need to concentrate on ourselves and not what other teams are doing. Also, Liverpool are below us but I don't see them worrying about relegation. Too many Swans fans just don't have enough faith in their team. Yes, we could have injuries, etc, but so could all the other teams. Even with injuries we won't get relegated. FACT.
Fact ! i hope youre right as im sure you are but my crystal balls not working. I have every faith that we will do very well this season but i try not to tempt fate before were safe thats all. If Danny wants to go then fair enough if his heart aint in it to wait his turn then sell him to the highest bidder by all means even to cardiff but if hes happy id keep him as decent back up now ML has been helping his game he should come good/better soon ?
This is pure speculation from The Sun. The only way I see Danny being sold in january is if ML buys two strikers in january. But unless DG insist I dont see this happening.
Well it aint a fact that we Will stay up! But i love the optimistic tone Its going to be difficult every year no matter what happens, bigger clubs than us have gone down and never returned, the swans have never been able to wear the favourites tag and it would be unwise to be over confident in this league! Look at Wigan last year, nailed on for relegation and survived and Bolton went down instead, i Think we as fans have seen so much over the years that we have a problem with too much over confidence, i totally agree that our mind set needs to change but we should never Get too cocky either, i Will beleive we Are safe when its in the maths! Get me those 40+ points asap boys ! Its good to have jacks that have the positive mind set though < ok>
If he goes as part of a package or transfer sequence to immediately bring in a better replacement then fine - it is what it is. But as a standalone transfer - never!!! He is part of the squad, has a role, plays the role and we don't need the money. So for me as part of an upgrade - yes, otherwise definitely no.
Sell him quick £5 mill is way over what he is worth for a striker who cant finish, He may have better luck at Norwich and the way they play. Its a shame for the lad but not all strikers can make it in the premiership and Danny's finishing was dreadful last season and even worse this season, He would only be a bit part player for us and he is to young to do that so if the rumors are true then good luck to him and hope it works out for him....Its obvious that he is not in sir mikes long term plan as he wants good finishers at premiership standard and Danny dont fit that criteria...
Not his biggest fan then Dai? Unless ML has a quality replacement lined up then I would keep him until the end of the season, and then see what happens. Afterall he did really well for us last season and maybe he should be given a bit more time to prove his worth. However given the the high quality players that ML has brought in to replace the players we lost in the summer ( I believe that every player that came in are better than the ones we sold) I am more than willing to trust ML judgement if he has someone already lined up as a replacement.
love the guy but if we want to establish ourselves in the premiership then we need a striker that wont miss as many chances as danny does. It will be beneficial for us and himself in the long term. you can see when he comments in the paper he dont like to be on the bench but looking at recent sir mikes selections then he wont get many starts and he deserves to find a club that will start him....I feel for the guy but our premiership survival must be paramount and we cant afford to miss the type of goals he tends to miss....
