News Update: Danny Drinkwater has reportedly turned down a new and improved deal offered to him by Premier League champions Leicester City. The 26-year-old, a key member of the Foxes' title-winning side, still has two years left to run on the £30,000-per-week contract signed in 2014. According to The Sun, Leicester were keen to bump up the Englishman's weekly wage to around £80,000 to bring him in line with other members of the squad, such as Jamie Vardy who extended his terms earlier this summer. Drinkwater's representatives are said to have knocked back City's offer, however, with Tottenham Hotspur now circling and keeping a close eye on the situation in the final fortnight of the transfer window. I hope this report is not true! I must admit I thought Danny would be one of the certs to sign his improved contract. please log in to view this image
Unless there is a quick denial then it seems the squad is being chipped away bit by bit. Even with all this 'team like a family' talk maybe all these bumped up salaries are causing jealousies.
... that he hasn't signed a new contract yet doesn't mean he has 'rejected' it ... but there wouldn't really be a story with "Danny Drinkwater continues new contract negotiations" ...
Chipping away at the squad is a very good way of putting it. I can't see us keeping half of our TOP players come next summer, how strong we are/stay will depend on who we can temp to replace these players. Still we can always say we have won the premier league, still fantastic to type that. All l want is that we stay in the premier league & maybe win a cup from time to time.
This - you never accept the first offer when negotiating. Does take the mick when you are at a car boot sale and someone is offering 20p for something on sale for 50p...
Very close to signing a new contract according to Danny. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/danny-drinkwater-pen-new-leicester-8678383
"When it’s right it’s right and I’ll sign. I love the club." Leicester loves you more than you will knooooowwwwww
