Im sure you all know the name. However, in case any of you dont, here is a bit of info on her..... She is a Councillor who represents the Green Party, the same party that has supported the protest group - 'Horfield Rose', who were against the Mem being re-developed. She was involved in the 'HOWZAT' campaign which was a protest against the Gloucesterhire cricket expansions. She was 1 of the 6 directors of the protest group - 'TRASHorfield' - which has caused a hell of a lot of delays trying to stop Sainsurys buying the Mem, which as you know, due to so much time wasted, Sainsburys no longer want the site. Remember as well that the appeals from 'TRASH' were against the Bristol City Council who gave planning permission to Sainsburys. So she against the Bristol City Council and cost the local tax payer a lot of money in this process http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Daniel...Rovers-legal/story-19916682-detail/story.html. All 3 of the above sporting developments in Bristol has had an enemy - Daniella Radice and her Green Party. She also said this: "I am not anti-football. Football is a fantastic sport and I really enjoyed seeing England’s women beat New Zealand at the Olympics last year." England didnt have a womens team in the Olympics. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge of 'sport' would know this. It was the Great Britain womens Olympic team. Anyway, the reason why im bringing her up is because she is now the Councillor in charge over 'sport' in Bristol. Yes you read that correctly. So will she show support to local 'sport' and get behind Rovers in our fight to move out of the Mem to get UWE stadium and Sainsbury have the Mem, the very thing that she has been fighting against for years now? If we fail with Sainsburys and try and sale the Mem again, will she support it? If we tried to redevelope the Mem, will she support it? If no to the above, surely she is not fit to be in that position. George Ferguson hired her in that position, the same guy who only wears blue trousers when a guest at the Mem. Was this his idea of a joke against us gasheads? He would have know about her feelings about sport so why on earth is she in this position? How crazy is this!
Couldn't agree more! Now I'm the first to admit that I know next to nothing about politics, nor am I particularly interested, and I tend to view most politicians as nothing more than crooks in suits riding the gravy train which is probably unfair to some of them, but an accurate description of the majority.Having said that, for the life of me,I just can't see the point of this Bristol mayor bollocks - what is the point of the red trousered clown and his minions being paid extortionate sums of money to actually achieve nothing worthwhile whatsoever? Waterslides down Park Street, roads closed in the City Centre on Sundays causing Bristols already congested roads to clog up even more are costly ventures that benefit a handful and inconvenience the majority in my opinion and were obviously dreamed up by someone that doesn't have to go to work on a Sunday and has too much time on his hands! To place that anti-sport,publicity chasing, supporter of the lost causes and minority tree hugging brigade in the position of Councillor in charge of Bristol sport is our worst nightmare and does not bode well for us,or anyone else in sport who tries to improve things for both themselves or the local community. The sooner we get the judgement regarding Sainsburys and (assuming its in our favour) get things tied up legally, the better, or she will scupper any plans we might have for the future.
Well said. Also dont forget Ferguson spent something like £300k of tax payers money on thousands of 20 mile an hour signs all over Bristol. Then gets cought speeding down 1 of them. The fine will be paid by his wages which is paid by the local tax payer. He has said numerous times in interviews that he won the majority of votes to become mayor. But it was something like 27% of Bristol who actually voted. I think the majority of Bristol wasnt fussed or couldnt be bothered or didnt even want a mayor. He thinks he is the chosen 1 but 3 quarters of Bristol didnt want him.
Ms Radice has been the major antagonist of the Green Party's resistance for ground improvements for Bristol Rovers, Bristol Rugby and Gloucestershire Cricket Club. Whether she has any knowledge of or interest in sporting matters on a personal basis would appear to be highly questionable. Under such circumstances her appointment to represent all sports related matters for Bristol City Council is unquestionably Mayor Ferguson's biggest and most crass 'faux pas' to date. Will she now turn tail and be supportive of the planning decision passed by the majority of Bristol \City Council with regard to the Mem? How many more unacceptable decisions will Mr Ferguson be allowed to make before the 'silent majority' give him the order of the boot? Or more importantly. Are they able to? It is quite clear by many of the unpopular decisions he has thus far made, he is a long way from being an independent politician, he is a true Green.
I'm guessing that those of you that live in Bristol, will have the chance to voice your opinion on your Council/Councillor's performance, next May !!!!
Ferguson wants rid of all cars in Bristol and is shutting all sorts of roads and slowing many other roads down. He is turning Bristol into a village and now got Radice - A green - to run the sport in Bristol. She will make everyone arrive to football games by bicycle. She will want trees on the pitch which can be used as goal posts. There is no way she will want any sort of development that will have any slight chance of effecting Gloucester Road shops. But maybe if she is in charge, will she convince the Council to purchase the Mem to allow Rovers to move to UWE and she can turn the Mem into allotments or something!
