Stoke are putting a 6 millon bid in would he be the answer to our striker problems or should we go for a "big"name?.they think he could move because they're in Europe next season
No better than our current lot at the moment but at least he's young and could improve - a bit of a gamble though. If we are going for the youth option I think there's better value abroard
6 million??? Try three times that. If Henderson is a 20 million pound player.... And attackers normally have higher market value.
I wouldn't agree with that valuation entirely, but £6m is a woefully small bid. There's no way Chelsea would even consider it. The only reason that he may be let go at all is because of the current crop of strikers and possible signings at Stamford Bridge. They may prefer to loan him out for another year and hope that he doesn't ask to leave, but I'd definitely take him for about £10m.
10 mill is probably fair but I do hope we keep him. If he doesn't break into the first team by Jan then maybe another loan to a mid table club.
£6m? Are you sure you didn't miss a digit? Apart from finding it hard to believe AV-B sees him surplus to requirements instead of Kalou or Anelka, I get the feeling if he does leave this summer it'll be on a season-long loan at someone like Sunderland or Bolton, essentially so he'll help nick points off clubs that could be a threat to Chelsea without running the risk of nicking a place in the top four at their possible expense - which could happen if he joins us or Liverpool. If we could sign him for £6-10m, though, he would be a useful addition to the front line as he's hungry and has experience playing in the PL already. We'd also have a good balance of youth and experience up front, with Sturridge and Leandro for the former, with two from Pav, Defoe and Crouch for the latter.
Have we ever bought an emerging talent from one of the top Prem teams? i can only think of players on the decline - Gallas, Rednapp, Sheringham, Corluka is debateable however Man City 'upgraded' (I'm not sure who their right back is still though)
Chelsea's current strikers are Torres, Drogba, Anelka, Kalou and Sturridge. If the links with Neymar, Falcao and Hulk are accurate and they sign at least two of them, then you'd assume that Anelka, Kalou and Sturridge would be marginalised, at the very least.
Falcao, has said he wants to join them only 6 milllon, not the 20 millon people were bandying about on 606 when a couple of us said we should try to sign him
Falcao will be sold to Chelsea at an inflated price as compensation to Porto for taking their manager.
Yes too many to list but I'm asking if we have ever bought emerging talent from a top Premiership team
I don't think we have, usually its the other way round. We take from lesser Prem sides, they star for us and then ManUre come sniffing around...
My fear if we did sign him is that he would'nt be 1st choice, he had a good run with Bolton playing every game, I don't think he'd get that here, he'd be used as he was at chelsea and city, and be as about as effective. I think him and Welbeck were standout players during our brief U21 campaign, as in, they made things happen, just didn't quite come off whe it mattered but got themselves into good positions all the time. Kept having to drop deep to get the ball though, don't think Pearce got the best from them really...poor Jack Wilshere...too puffed out to play...diddums!
Jamie O'Hara and Rohan Ricketts count, right? Other than that, we tend to get prospects from lower divisions (Bale, Dawson, Lennon, Huddlestone, Walker, Rose, Bostock and, further back, Routledge, Davies and Etherington) or from the continent (Modric, Sandro, Kaboul, GDS, Postiga, Taarabt, KPB)
Most of the sides around us just wouldn't sell a young prospect to us. They'd rather not take the risk of it coming back to bite them on the arse.
I would agree with what PNP has said. Sturridge has been reported as saying he wants to play, either at Chelsea, or somewhere else. If, the new guy starts shipping in more strikers of his own choice (Falcao etc) then Sturridge could feel that he's better off leaving. Sure, he could be loaned out again, but how much longer is he going to want that? Worth following developements IMO. However, whether Chavski would sell to us, and the asking price could both still be problems.
