I always thought of Sturridge as someone with exceptional ability but a weak mindset which holds him back.
Think that's a fair assessment. He looks like the kind of player who will perform better when expectations are lower. The deal was probably good for both parties - Liverpool improved their squad and Chelsea got rid of a player who will probably never be consistent and hard working enough to support a proper title challenge.
Will be interesting to see how he copes at Liverpool next season, when the expectations will inevitably be much higher come the start of the season.
