Having seen Daniel Sturridge look excellent in the first half of the season, he doesn't look the same player now. Is he going to be like Drogba and play well when it suits him or will he fulfill his true potential?
I think he's far too gready and thinks he's better than he really is, needs to get down to basics, dont get me wrong i think he's got bags of potential, just feel he's starting to get an attitude which is probably down to Drogba
Well I defo think he's made a impression on him and given Drogba's attiude some times it would'nt surprise me, i happen to think Drogbas been the best striker we've had in donkey's years, but his attitude of say the last 2 seasons has been piss poor at times and it may well be rubbing off on the younger players
Sturridge is still one of our best players, without him we are a lot weaker, as shown on Weds evening
i have certainly noticed of late that sturridge has been going to the craig bellamy school of scowling.
Going back to the 3-0 against Newcastle, I thought he looked very greedy particularly in the first half and was praised for it. He's very talented but he doesn't look up enough and favours just punting it at goal no matter the angle. Seems to have a bit of an ego by all accounts too. Still wouldn't mind him at Spurs
Greedy yes, but he can easily learn with experience when to pass the ball at the correct time. Nothing major. We need a greedy player tbh, since Robben left we've lacked somebody who can try and take on a full back, he just needs to learn when to cross it
True Drogs but we keep hearing how he wants to play down the middle. how much of that has come from him and how much from the scum press we don't know but it seems to me lately that he just seems intent on trying to out do both Drogba & Torres. He was scoring for fun AND setting up chances for others. He seems to be doing not much of either at present. Since he's been struggling personally, our results have definitely worsened IMO.
good point tel, its not like any sort of partnership is developing when he plays with either drogba or torres
I think it's the press tbh, he would probably love to play in the middle but I genuinely think he's more of a threat out of the right.
He needs a mentor-but he hasn't got one at SB! Perhaps once we have appointed our new "special one" he can be nursed through the early part of his career and become a star! Its different now , they all need nursing. Once upon a time the likes of 17 year olds like Greavsie, Tambling , Bridges and Ozzie just turned out and blew the oppo's away! Now they have to be nursed! OMG!!!
Sturridge is very much an attitude player. Looked great early season , then when things got tough and he needed to play a role he didn't like for the benefit of the team, he got the hump. Think it's more likely he's influenced by the old guard. He's one of 2 things. Either incredibly immature, or physically blessed but mentally deficient.
"Either incredibly immature, or physically blessed but mentally deficient." dont you beat about the bush now !!
Err mate, boys have things called dicks and girls are the one's who have the c**ts. unless you're saying that sturridge is a big-girls blouse then i think you meabn a big kick in the balls, don't you?
One word to describe Studge and that is raw. Bags of talent, completely unrefined. He'll mature in time, 22 still is no where near peak.
No point beating about the Bush Lucky when 4th place is slip sliding away !!!! The kid is immature for sure, in his whole attitude and performances, which is to be expected at his age. But is he one of those players with great skills who rarely make the right decision at the vital time ?? There is some evidence this is the case. Lets hope maturity will bring an improvement in decision making as well. Will temper my question with the fact that the kids at Chelsea must be wondering if they're Arthur or Martha with all the change of managers, assistants, trainers and the old carry on at our club.
