Suspension of Luis Suarez has benefited Daniel Sturridge which is a good thing. I am not sure if Brendan Rodgers is going to start him in both games if Suarez is available. Suddenly, who would not like Daniel Sturridge in his team?. I am not sure if Chelsea are wondering why they let him leave because he is becoming very deadly. Well done Daniel Sturridge .
I think it will be interesting to see if Coutinho, who will undoubtedly play regardless, can form a partnership/otherworldy understanding with Suarez like he has with sturridge. It's a happy conundrum to have.
To be honest, Sturridge has been good since he first started here at LFC and that includes playing alongside Suarez. Those two already have a great understanding with one another, and these two have a great understanding with Coutinho as well. I agree with Mighty - Henderson will make way unfortunately as we desperately need his energy however we do need to replace him in that position as we need more quality and pace. Aspas would be a good player but I still feel we need a top class option in that position. A trio of Suarez, Coutinho and Sturridge is mouthwatering.
yes, he got injured and breifly looked rusty for us but when he's been fit and sharp which has been the majority of time he looks good. I hope we put suarez behind him like aspas with duty to play right side when defending.... i hope we do not relegate this guy to right wing. henderson is in purely for energy, in the first half he looked our least technical player... i nthe second his energy was what we needed. most of all we needed options to come in and rodgers had borini, allen and sterling to pick out of.... thats the difference. play like we did second half v utd and there's nobody to come in.
I disagree about Hendo. I think Gerrard and Lucas need that "water carrier" type player with them. How many title winning Prem teams have had that type of player in midfield. Most of them have. Hendo and Lucas will do the dirty work which allows the creative players to do their thing.
I rather have Henderson playing deeper and centrally as we need his energy and strength. However, he was playing right wing and he wasn't contributing in an attacking aspect. Gerrard and Lucas both need Hendo. But I think it;s concerning that both CM's need this type of player. Typically, one of the two CM's is the destroyer, with strength, tenacity, power etc. That's why I think our CM needs a good looking at.
Mignolet Johnson Toure Agger Enrique Gerrard Lucas Suarezz Coutinho Aspas Sturridge Would you say this is our strongest line up?
neither was aspas nor johnson in fairness.... bother were terrible second half and hendo did it all by himself. I do agree gerrard needs the runner to allow him play like a playmaker deep. but.... just perhaps in a few days we'll get someone in at lw and coutinho wil ltake the slot of hendo... and suarez will enventually take aspas slot. then the bench with aspas and hendo looks at least better than borini and allen.
So far Aspas has been playing behind Sturridge like a second striker. This is where Suarez played last season after Sturridge signed and both strikers were banging the goals in. So Suarez as second striker. Aspas could move wide right or Henderson could stay there. It depends on the opposition there. They will still be on the bench. Or at least one at a time. Jones, Wisdom (or a new cb), Cissohko (or Kelly), Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Aspas.
Hendo has had a great start to the season and has looked good in both games imo. He always makes himself available when opposition are pressuring us on the ball and the forward runs he makes have really improved this season, very unlucky not to have scored too. I wish Rodgers had more faith in him at the start of last season then we wouldn't be stuck with Allen and £15mil less to spend.
Allen and Henderson are different types of player. Both are in Rodgers plans and I can see both being involved for the long run.
Sturridge and Suarez were excellent against Chelsea. Just the presence of them both in the team causes a bunch of conundrums for who ever we gonna play!! And with Coutinho in behind causing mayhem, that's what I'd like to see.
Fair enough but to me it looks like Hendo is taking Allens place in the team. There's no way Allen is winning it from Gerrard or Lucas.
-----------Mingolet------------ -Johnson-Toure-Agger-Enrique-- ---------Lucas--Gerrard-------- ---Henderson-------Coutinho--- ------------Suarez------------- -----------Sturridge------------
When Suarez comes back, Sturridge has to remain as that main central striker, especially if he carries on as he has the last couple of games, and last few games last year. Suarez is just as good out wide and has played there for Ajax and Uruguay, so wouldn't be foreign to him. There will be a lot of movement between the front 3 and Coutinho if he's dropped deeper into a midfield role. Before Suarez got banned, they started a few games together and the link up play between them seemed to be very good for something so new. This can only get better over time. The goal when Lucas played it through, Sturridge let it run between his legs knowing Suarez was making a run and got on the end of it to score was a good example. Actually can't wait for Suarez to come back if he puts 100% commitment into it, think will be very exciting going forward.
Yeah, one's **** and the other is useful I think when Suarez comes back, assuming we sign no one else, we'll be playing either Aspas or Hendo depending on the fixture. -----Lucas-Gerrard------- Aspas-Coutinho-Suarez ----------Studge----------- ---Lucas-Gerrard-Hendo--- -Suarez-Studge-Coutinho- Allen really doesn't fit either team. The first is fast one-two attacking and incisive passing in the final third. He won't displace Lucas or Gerrard in this team, nor is he better than the forward 4. In the second, it's tougher to break down using Hendo's energy to press teams who'll have a bit more of the ball. Coutinho is forced into a wide forward role, but he'll still be involved. Allen can't press like Jordan and doesn't have the energy or positional sense to defend nor is he better than the forward 3, so doesn't fit again. I agree that Studge should never be displaced from his central attacking role though. That should never change, even with Suarez coming back.
Suarez and Sturridge have an excellent understanding. Sturridge and Coutinho link up very well together. Coutinho and Suarez played well together last season too. The question is about the partnership, can all three play together and still link up in the same way?
As long as Sturridge stays fit happy days, he's extremely quick, skillfull, can finish and is very busy. Chavs letting him go but keeping Torres With BR talking about Cout being best in no 10 does that mean Suarez would be LF?
