In what way? The statement makes it look like it’s been planned for a while. They even go out of their way to say no change to ownership
Yet. I feel like he's either gone nowhere or they're selling up. He may have added a layer of employees and taken a slight step back.
He could be washing his hands of a sale to some 'unsavoury' types...or has been manoeuvered out by the Lewis family... ...or a million other scenarios. Beyond time for fresh leadership, so it's all good.
The best-case scenario, which should have happened from the moment they turned the lights on in the new stadium, is that Levy takes a complete step back/away from anything related to a sphere rolling around on a patch of grass, to focus exclusively on the commercial and events side of the operation. We've been crippled for the best part of six years because he has stubbornly tried to do both.
Rumours abounded that Lewis and family were extremely unhappy with Daniel's responses to potential buyers especially, but a number of other issues, also. We'll never know for sure, but this represents a definite regime change... ...the cabal of Collecutt, Cullen and Levy are gone...finally.
Overall has a very decent legacy, it’s just a shame that the last sort of 6 or so years he got almost every major decision wrong, football and non-football. Bows out after a European trophy win and delivering (on paper) what’s been one of our better transfer windows in a while though. Interested to see how we move and act now.
We'll never know. There was a significant litany of very serious issues, including but not limited to the turnover of managers and playing staff, continuing lack of stadium sponsorship, and conducting reviews on reviews. But at the same time, most PL chairmen are guilty of the above, and worse. And none of them have delivered a state of the art stadium without bankrupting their club. I just think he didn't know when to hold his hands up and admit he was out of his depth, and I think that stage coincided with us regularly qualifying for the CL under Poch, and got much worse once the stadium was built.
Will anything really change though unless it is setting up for a takeover? There’s no change to the share structure so will it just be a new figurehead? Interesting to see what (if anything) happens. We now have a non-executive chairman rather than an executive chairman so no idea what that means. Whatever others thoughts are, I think he’s done a very good job overall. I was to late for the team at the start of the 80s so in the time I’ve been a spurs fan, the levy period of control has been a lot better than what came before it in my lifetime.
Honestly looks like a takeover might be in the offing, as Vivienne Lewis has swooped in from nowhere to make these changes and have a more direct influence I give it a couple of days before people start calling her Shiv-ienne
