Would have waited until he came back and see if he could regain his place first - last contract would have ended in 2020 so there was no rush.
Not unhappy with this. Sometimes I think we forget how young the majority of our players are. He is only 22 and now has nearly three years of prem experience and will only get better. He is a bit unlucky in that he is so versatile and never gets a run in one position but that is also a bonus for us as he can cover so many positions.
I think for Amartey sake he needs to get rid of the versatility tag. He is ok in a few positions but not great in any. Puel has tried to change that but from ever ive seen Amartey play he has either looked really steady or like a lost sheep
