After considering Southampton's appeal, The FA have decided that their original charge of violent conduct stands.

Banned for 3 games, and fined £40k.

Which, begs the question, why didn't we accept it and have the three games whilst Dani was injured? Odd.

We must've, again, felt we had a genuine case.

Unless we nailed on grounds to appeal, it was a daft thing to do...may have made sense if he had been available over the Xmas period, but he wasn't.

The FA don't like us for some reason?

Some piss poor decisions coming out of the club. I didn't want to see us plastered all over sky's yellow bar so early in the year, but I've got to say its seems all of our own making.

£40k? That appears to be more than double what Uefa/FIFA charge national football associations after riots & racist abuse.

I presume the FA have access to a player's wages and that's possibly a figure based upon what Osvaldo earns?

Dani Osvaldo will miss the matches against: Burnley, West Brom, Sunderland.

Will return for Saints vs Arsenal at St. Mary's on Tuesday the 28th of January.

Bans can't be served while injured can they? So accepting the charge earlier wouldn't have made any difference.

I'd be interested to know how that is policed. Short of a broken leg, surely it's up to the team to declare fitness. How could it be disproven?

Anyway, irrelevant now. I can only assume that we thought there were good grounds for appeal. Bugger.

Just good fortune if ban coincides with injuries.

Appealing an injured player's suspension however is...rather silly.

Would be nice to get some information on what he was actually accused of doing, and from where the proof was obtained.

Injury has nothing to do with it. You could technically appeal the decision if Osvaldo was dead. It's the charge you are appealing and Saints have cocked up big time with this one.

40 grand is a bit steep, even for a very wealthy young man on premiership wages. In fact it's brutal.
