... Seen pictures of Suarez supporting him- posing with pictures of eating bananas. Surprised that hasn't met "controversy"- considering some see him as the Uruguayan Hitler.

Yeah digger's put the beef on big time.

 

I would hope he wouldn't eat any in the future too... wouldn't have the same impact the 2nd time... and if anything- if he ate one again it would encourage more people to throw bananas- even some non-racists would probably throw one to get a reaction- would have a negative effect and damage the good he's done.

So, Villarreal were fined £9,850 for the banana throwing...what is the actual point of a fine like that?

Villarreal, to their credit, identified the fan and have given him a lifetime ban. But I don't understand the fine. 10k is nothing for a club, so it's a bit pointless in that regard, but surely since the club have apologised on behalf of their moron supporter and banned him, why are they being fined anyway? They can't predict someone will use racist behaviour in a game so what have they done wrong?

Either come down hard on the club with a proper fine, or fine the fan/take criminal action against him instead.

Just makes no sense to me.
