It sounds like Dirk Kuyt has signed for Fenerbahce (though no announcment from LFC has been made, the Turkish side have announced it on Twitter). I kind of hoped he'd hang around with the new manager, but it seems not. I'll miss this guy. Fairwell
always liked him, but the right time for him to leave in my opinion, last season was poor by his standards.
Source: http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/latest-news/kuyt-agrees-fenerbahce-deal - The man for the big games. I think that's how we'll remember Dirk. Didn't have his best season last season and it's probably the right time for Dirk to move on. Could have stayed for another season and seen out his contract but he'll probably get more games in Turkey. EDIT: talkSPORT saying the fee is around £1M. Which seems very low indeed.
ah i just read that there was some get out clause for around a million which would fit that fee. Silly clause to have im my opinion, could easily have fetched more
Who put the clause in for £1M?! That's incredibly low and I suspect we could have got around £4-5M for him if there wasn't that clause in his contract.
great servant to the club. Wish him luck in turkey. Definitely could have got more than 1m though.. Might have been worth keeping him on the books if that was the fee.
Will miss him, but if Rodgers is going to adapt his style of quick-passing, technical football then he really wouldn't have fit in the system and would have spent large parts of next season on the bench. Right decisions for both parties, just a shame we only got £1m for him.
I think he wanted to move last summer, he was asked to stick around for one more season and he could then go for a token £1m. Can’t remember where I read this, but pretty sure it’s the case Anyway all the best to him
Not blessed with skill, but one hell of a big heart in him! Deffinitely a fans favourite. Top man, top professional. I have no doubt we'll miss him off the pitch, must have beena great influence on the younger players. That said, on high wages for his 'ability' and age was getting on. Probably for the best that he moved on Start of a new era. Best of luck Dirk!
Can't believe people don't rate Dirk, an absolute legend. Not everyone can be skilful, you need grafters in your team, and there were none finer than this guy.
Yeah I never rated him as a technical player, and he often was a scapegoat for many of us, but I'll miss him. He will be remembered though, some of his goals were vital, hat trick against United and the goal against Cardiff and all that. His performance against Arsenal in the CL a few years back was the best performance in a red shirt I have ever seen. He wouldn't have a place in the new squad (as he really never developed a first touch), so good luck in the future Dirk.
Gutted Dirk has left, a true LFC legend, I hate it when players like this leave.People with Liverpool " in there soul" Kuyt,Riise,Garcia IMO hes been let go too soon, and was DEFINITELY under played last season.Saw him score some massive goals at Anfield for us and at Wembley,Dirk v Inter,Dirks double in the 4-4 v Arsenal ( his best game for LFC IMO),Dirks Hat trick v the scum, Dirks winner v the scum in the cup,Dirk v Cardiff, the list goes on and on.Im gettin a tad emotional!! LEGEND!!!! I sense Junior Hoilett may be his replacement
Really sad. Arguably my fav players over the past 4 years or so. Always put his heart and soul into everything and clearly loved the club. He won't forget that hattrick either! Cheers Dirka Dirk!
