Damien Johnson as failed to reach an agreement with Huddersfield Town on a new contract. He is persuing other options.........at least we know that one of those options will not be Argyle.......we couldn't afford him in the first place.......without to much playing time he has already cost us a fortune.
Here is the irony plym, I've read a rumour he is talking to Fleetwood. To be honest I don't care much where he goes as it is a godsend he isn't being paid by us anymore.
Having just looked on the BBC site I see it is no longer a rumour and Johnson has signed for Fleetwood now. I also See that Arnason has moved from Aberdeen to Rotherham. At least we will have a couple of players to boo next season.
A bit of a climbdown for Johnson, dropping down from promoted Huddersfield to the basement division with Fleetwood........is he finding out that he isn't as good as the wages he had been getting under false pretences.
I dont think you can be too hard on Arnason sensible, since it was Guilfoyle's fault that he left in anger. He gave his all for us in the previous season (10/11) and I think it would be unfair to villianise him like Maclean (who was fecking useless). I certainly won't boo him anyway. Interesting to see that they are flocking to league 2. Fallon to Southend anyone?
I don't actually do boooing either hobo but no doubt there will be a section who will just because he once played here. Was more a comment on what usually happens to ex players.
Just read a story on the Beeb site reference Johnson. Says he was convinced to join Fleetwood because of their ambition and the set up there. Don't footballers talk a load of bollocks. The gist of the story should have read "I have come to Fleetwood because Huddersfield wanted to drop my money loads and shaft me. Fleetwood offered to pay me more than they would so I signed".
Cannot see Johnson as the bad guy for us. Did OK in the games he played not really his fault that he was signed on a contract we could not afford. Fallon to anyone in this league, except us of course, would be a great move.
You are right Sensible but OK is much better than some of the other thieves we have signed. I dont know the ins and outs of his contract but as I understand Huddersfeild never picked up his full wage which is a bloody joke IMHO we should have had him on the pitch when we where plummeting in Div 1 or 2 he would have been class. The scary thing is that Fleetwood signed him from us... is he that bad or do Fleetwood have more punch than us....
I don't think it was either mexijan. He was never going to be offered a new contract here and if he had been it would have been a fraction of the one he has been on. Fleetwood do have a few quid and I would guess offered more than we would have. Huddersfield are the thieves in this in my view. I understand they only paid half his wages which left us with no player and a £5000 per week bill. If we had kept him and played him it would have been the full £10k and there was no way we could pay that. This goes back to the players contracts and them being one sided for me. If you have a bad employee you can usually sack them for being bad. In football, they can be as bad as they like and put as little effort in as they like yet you still have to pay them to even get rid at full whack. The fault lies with clubs however for the contracts they agree and if they all set down new rules then the power would shift. I was being a little unfair to Joohnson I know who was ok in a poor side so you can't blame him for what happened to us. Having watched him a few times when he did play he did put in the effort.
