S B Mc B Thanks for posting some good news, we certainly need a pick up after the disastrous past 2 seasons we have had. Cottager would have been in his element reporting these matches, I hope his reason for not posting is just a sojourn in the sun and nothing more serious
Indeed I have been sunning it up rosc. Just back from a wee trip to India and some T20 Cricket - unbelievable atmosphere and great stuff from England. Bad planning or lacking. optimism, not sure which, unfortunately meant being back home home before the final stages of that tournament though. A plus however, what with flight and time differences, meant that I got to watch the lads play in the Dallas Cup final. please log in to view this image Disappointing first half really when Everton were always quicker to the ball and our youngsters struggled to complete passes. Only good, organised defending kept the score down to 1-0 in the Toffee's favour. Second half was a definite improvement and even steven. Everton got the cushion of a second goal through Brewster (who although obviously talented, I took an immediate dislike to because of his arrogance and blatant diving - especially in the penalty area). Five minutes from the end Elijah Adebayor hustled his way into the box and pulled one back with a low shot. Not really enough time left to get that equaliser however and fair play to Everton they looked strong enough and skilled enough to play the game out. So 2-1 to them. Thanks to a lost charger on the way out to India (bit of a mystery that one - a bit like the disappearing rope trick) I was without access to the tablet I'd taken with me and therefore the internet. So was without any news whatsoever about dear old Fulham throughout the trip. Which means I'm only now catching up, thanks to SuperBri's posts, on how the lads fared in the earlier rounds. The clear conclusion is an acknowledgement of how well Steve Wigley and his youngsters have done. Five games in seven days is a tough ask. Especially when taking account that the average age of our team was something like 17.5 years. And just think they beat the much vaunted USA U20s! Congratulations to the lot of them. Off to catch up on some sleep now - the rest of the other news from the Cottage will have to wait for another day.
Thanks Captain and others for their concern. As well as the hustle and bustle of Delhi for the cricket, I had a week on the beach at Goa. So while I had trouble with the tablet my own batteries were well and truly charged up. Quite nice to be back though, despite Katie and apprehension of what might be in store for us at the weekend. Back at Dallas, and just for the record, here's the full squad of lads that did us proud - please log in to view this image
