Mercedes GP is now fully owned by Daimler AG and financial partner Aabar Investments PJS. The two companies have baught out the remaining shareholders such as team boss Ross Brawn and Nick Fry. Mercedes parent Daimler now has 60% of the shares, the remaining shares are held by Aabar.

Daimler director Dieter Zetsche indicates that this acquisition is a clear sign of the intentions of his company to remain in Formula 1. "The purchase of a majority stake in the team is a signal we want to achieve technical and sporting success at the highest stage of the sport, and that under cost conditions."

Brawn: "The Aabar takeover by Daimler and the remaining 24.9 percent stake is a further step towards the strengthening and reinforcement of our team. Formula 1 is a special industry and we are fortunate to have such strong partners as Daimler and Aabar. I remain attached to the team for the long term, like the rest of the leadership team and our employees. We look forward to the challenge of success and GP Mercedes Mercedes-Benz is proud to represent.
