Good morning, all you late "sleepers-in"- taking the benefit of the extra hour's sleep. Today's racing is all National Hunt (hoorah)- from Aintree, Galway, Wincanton, and Wexford. I'm proffering no tips today, but raising a point of discussion concerning the win of For Non Stop in The Old Roan Chase at Aintree yesterday. Whatever the level of fitness of his opponents, For Non Stop was certainly impressive and showed he has gone the right way since last season. More important, I feel it highlights the prospects of his Cheltenham conqueror, Sir Des Champs, who beat him decisively in The Jewson Chase. At Cheltenham, For Non Stop ran a great race but just could not get to grips with Sir Des Champs and Champion Court, and Willie Mullins' charge showed his usual, impressive turn of foot up the hill to the line. Bearing all this in mind, would members be tempted by the 6/1 ante-post currently on offer for Sir Des Champs in the Gold Cup? Maybe not. He is not due to reappear until December and arguably, the price will not change before then. However, should he retain his unbeaten record and win impressively, the 6/1 could look very big at Christmas. What do other members think about his price and prospects? Good punting to everyone today!
It looks like Sir Des Champs is the horse they all have to beat. I wouldn't want to be on anything else at the moment but 6/1 doesn't give much room for error. Maybe one to just chuck a fiver on every time you have a nice winner. Then hopefully have a bit on by March. Speaking of ante-post, what does everyone think of Dynaste 14/1 for the RSA chase? Must surely be his target?
Morning Tam For me it beggers belief that Sir Des Champs is 6/1 fav for the Gold Cup. I wouldn't even have him down as the best chaser in Ireland, I personally think Last Instalment and Flemenstar will prove their superiority this season. I also cannot for the life of me understand why SDC is shorter than Bobs Worth for the CGC - Henderson's charge really relished the course and trip in both the Albert Bartlett novices hurdle and the RSA chase and for me would be a more likely favourite at this stage of the season, where everything is based on previous form and "potential". I don't think For Non Stop is a reliable form line tbh, he doesn't seem to run consistently. He really impressed at Sandown when running Al Ferof so close but then disappointed behind Cue Card at Newbury. He then won a fairly weak looking Scilly Isles novices chase before doing little more than plodding on in the Jewson. His victory yesterday, whilst visually impressive, throws up more questions than it answers, particularly around the fitness of the other protagonists. Too early in the season to draw any real conclusions and certainly wouldn't have me rushing to take 6/1 on SDC for the Gold Cup.
Morning all just the one single for me today. Confident that HANDAZAN will have come on a lot for his hurdling debut. I really liked his debut effort when beaten 12 lengths by an interesting horse from the Paul Nicholls stable. What I liked about him was he kept finding for pressure from Robert Thornton and having not jumped very well at all I think he ran a great race. Alan King was happy with the run and suggested he will have improved for that outing. Was a nice sort on the flat with John Oxx. Nicholls again takes him on with For Two but he has a 5lb penalty to concede. 100/30 about Handazan is an excellent price. Also a lucky 15 Handazan 1.40 Aintree 100/30 Funny Star 4.00 Aintree 100/30 Sound Investment 4.30 Aintree 6/1 Cops And Robbers 1.15 Wexford 1/1 something to watch when I get back from the match. Good luck all
Bloody hell 11/8 Vendor in the opener at Aintree is short enough couldn't be taking any of that. I've had a speculative e/w dabble on Skint, who has moved from Seven Barrows to the Charlie Longsdon yard and looks interesting back over hurdles today. His mark of 131 doesn't look too onerous based on his winning a Grade 3 novices handicap hurdle off 128 at Sandown 18 months ago and Noel Fehily certainly seems to be making up for lost time since returning from injury. In the juvenile hurdle at 1.40 I'm perpared to give Alan King's Hamdazan another chance. There was a strong word for the ex-John Oxx runner on debut but he ran into a very decent Paul Nicholls animal and will have come on for that experience. I think he looks a bit of value against the 2 hurdle debutants. In the 2.15 I am looking forward to a bold showing from First Fandango, who will relish the step up in trip and will hopefully put in a better round of jumping than on his chase debut. He remains an exciting novice chaser. The Pertemps Qualifier is competitive as ever but I have had a dabble on the Peter Bowen runner Buachaill Alainn who has impressed on his last 2 starts and could be very nicely handicapped off 127. He gets the cheekpieces back on today which should help him focus on the job at hand and this strong-travelling type can sit up with the likely good pace and pounce late. Merrion Square looks like one to keep following until he gets beat and he looks to have a favourites chance in the 3.25, although it would be no surprise to see Lidar go well at a nice e/w price. The bumper looks an above-average contest with a number of powerful yards and owners represented. David Pipe's Broadway Buffalo was very impressive when winning on debut and he looks a warm order to defy the penalty here. One who might be worth an e/w dabble is Lucinda Russell's point winner Ballycool - this from her website: "Tomorrow we run the point winner Ballycool for Paul and Margaret Winnell. He is a raw type who is green but has shown some good bits of work on the gallops." Best of luck everyone
FO probably get done by Nicholls again 3 points for your lads today? Can't believe we won 3-0 yesterday, forgotten what it feels like.
best not. I hope so mate ffs. Newcastle have been poor this season so far. I haven't enjoyed one home game and they still haven't scored at the end I have a season ticket at . In regards to your boys I can believe it because you's were playing Ipswich - they are ****ed Btw its HANDAZAN NOT HAMDAZAN you nacker
Very likely to be his target, and Donald McCains been saying he's looking very good in schooling, but 14/1 is too short a price this far in advance I think.
Let us bear in mind that this time last year Long Run was shorter than that for the Gold Cup, and he was an impressive Gold Cup winner. 6/1 far too short given that there are good opposition. For Non Stop was impressive though. Looked better than his form last season.

Just a quick glance to see what the forums up to before im off to watch the 'Friendly Derby' at the club... Dont hold much hope but you never know...!!! Just had a look at the betting for the games and to get a 'Blue Double' of Chavski, 7/5 and the Blueshite, 13/8 comes in at £6.30 to the £1 bet... I think thats worth a dabble... Though more than the solitary £1 will be staked... Add RV's Toon, 10/11 to the mix and its a £12.03 treble...!!! Good luck to any bets, as usual, and lets hope for a good clean game of footy today... Though not in the Mersey Derby...
RV, looks like we are both onside with Handazan - I am laying the Nicholls newcomer in that race so fingers crossed we land a double here
By the way RV, I want no abuse if Newcastle ****ing spank West Brom today! The start will be crucial to the game but I am predicting an absolute goalfest.
Toppy lets hope so I am off there soon mate quick pint in Shearers then in to the stadium. I fancy Newcastle strongly today. Don't see your lot causing us many problems at the back if Collocini and Taylor play together. Santon is playing really well atm only weak link is Danny Simpson. No Tiote today (thank god for that) most overrated player in the league. Ben Arfa destroyed you's last season and I am predicting the same today 3-1 Cisse to score 1st.
Depends on who we pick mate- Shane Long is immense. Wait till you see Lukaku (hopefully coming off the bench with half hour left)- mate he is built like ****ing Denman or something. For a 19 year old kid he is frightening. Hoping we catch you on the break today mate- I predict Cisse and Ba to cause us all sorts of problems and both score, but with us catching you on the break. 2-2 for me mate but here's hoiping its full value for money, love both our clubs and we usually have some corking games against one another. (2-3 @ SJP and 1-3 @ Hawthorns as we shared the honours after last years two matches, 3-1 @Hawth and 3-3@SJP season before, and 1-1 and 2-2 when we were in the Championship). Goals galore bet of the weekend mate.
