Some high class racing at Newmarket and undoubtedly some very tricky puzzles to solve.

I have had a rare dabble on a treble at 100/1, as I thought it looked fair value, even though trebles are notoriously difficult.

1.15 Newmarket: RAKASA 4/1- Won what looked a hot enough Goodwood maiden on debut before just failing to collar the excellent REGAL REALM over 7f at Goodwood again, who is very much a Group Class 2 year old.

That form proves she handles undulations and hopefully Newmarket will suit. Has some of the best form of anyone although closely matched with Questing on Goodwood running.

2.25 Newmarket: Poet's Voice 7/2 At the top of his game he is a Group 1 horse, and is certainly best at a strongly run mile. A good pace seems to be the key, and I think he will get that tomorrow for the following reasons: The ground is riding pretty quick, and there are some very nice prominent runners in this field. Libranno knows nothing other than leading, and Emerald Commander, Godolphins other runner, has also been at the head of affairs in his races so far this year. Then bear in mind that Ransom Note and Tazahum love to sit just behind the leader, and it looks a race with an awful lot of pace. Poet's Voice's finest hour came when Rip Van Winkle set a strongly run mile when trying to make all only for Poet's Voice to stay on strongly and nab the race late on. Hopefully we will see Poet's Voice at his best today.

3.00 Newmarket: Firdaws 7/2- The 'talking horse' of the race after the Newmarket rumour mill was in overdrive prior to her debut, though so far it can be said that the two market principles- Lyric of Light and Fallen For You- have done their talking on track. However, Firdaws has still looked green at times during both her races and on this her third start, I would hope Roger Varian has her much more clued up and she should be a lot more Streetwise. Her debut was very promising, denied a clear run before getting the hang of things with a strong run late, just failing. She might have been a little too prominent last time out and looked green when she hit the front, so I'm hoping there is much more to come.

Jackpot rollover looks like being around the £2.5m mark tomorrow. I'll be chucking a few quid into the pool, more in hope than expectation. It'll keep me entertained for a bit and might just change my life, if i'm really really lucky.

P.S. My new blog is http://cuhrs.blogspot.com/. I've just become President of the Cambridge Horse Racing Society so am trying my best to get the younger generation interested!

I was just thinking Toppy, wheres the thread for tomorrow! lol

    My Selections tomorrow are:

1.15- Elusive Flame 14/1 E/W- Is on an upward curve improving with every run winning his last 2 races including a good win about 10 days ago in a decent race @ Doncaster. I think at this price is an extremley good each way price which I have already got on it!

1.50- Seta 7/2 - She returns to run a mile, which will be in her favour! Showed she was on top form when winning a strong listed race at goodwood. With Fallon on board, I think she will take all the beating but it is intresting that Hughes has decided to go for Soorah, when imo Electra Star is the better choice. We will wait and see.

14.25- Libranno 7/1 E/W- Was going to go for Premieo Loco but I just think age will catch up on him, he won well while winning a G2 in doncaster recently but i think these younger horse will have the stamina to go past. Poets Voice is another intresting one but is a horse not on form, which was proved when coming last of 7 recently at doncaster. So my choice libranno has grabbed a few G3 races and is ready and has the right jockey and attitude to move up to the next level win a high quality race like this!

15.00 Newmarket- Lyric Of Light 2/1 Won her first two starts first one in newmarket then the other one 2 weeks later, when beating fallen for you by a neck. She looked to have thought she had the race won when beating Fallen for you, so aslong as she doesnt make that mistake again which could have cost her, she will take all the beating and with Frankie on board she has a very good chance of confirming her unbeaten form!

I was very taken with ALBAMARA following her win at Epsom - it takes a very well balanced horse to handle Epsom at 2 - and at the time connections shrugged off talk of running her in this race, so I'm intrigued as to why she now runs. At 9/1 I'm prepared to have a little e/w.

There won't be a dry eye in the house if FIRDAWS wins.

So, what odds do we think a HAAFHD wins the "Haafhd Maiden" at Newmarket?! 2 chances, though at 33/1 and 100/1 respectively it's probably a tad unlikely ;)

I have been told RIGGINS is ready to run a big race in the Cambs, as a hold up horse they are hoping for a flat out gallop and George Baker enjoys sitting in and coming from behind with a late rattle.

40s with Billys and Laddies but i am assured the money will come at some stage.

Be Lucky if you have a go

Another fairly decent card over the sticks today at Worcester. I am tempted to put a lucky 31 on McCoy's 5 rides as I think all 5 have excellent chances and for once it seems they are not overly short.

In the 1.50 AP rides Platinum for Rebecca Curtis. Platinum was with André Fabre in France but only had the 1 run, finishing 3rd in the Prix Dunkerque (I guess it was obvious it would be next stop the UK from Dunkirk <laugh>). His 1 run for Rebecca Curtis so far, in a Class 3 handicap over 1m4f at Ffos Las, was as disappointing as it was mystifying, and I can only think it was a pipe-opener for his real target, novice hurdling. Today's race looks a fairly decent heat, with Lough Derg Way a decent yardstick, but the strike rate of McCoy when riding for Rebecca Curtis is pretty phenomenal and I think Platinum could just have too much class today. At 3/1 he gets the nap vote.

Hope Firdaws can win at HQ, would be a nice way to end the week after the sad death of Michael Jarvis.

    Best of luck everyone <ok>

Nass: And a very good morning to you too

After being given it and checking out the form he must have a very good 'place' chance and i'd much rather be on a finisher than a leader any day in this race!

Albaquaa still the main bet who also is a come from behind fast finisher :emoticon-0103-cool:

My 'tipping' on here has been pretty abysmal so please ignore but i do think Salford Art has abetter chance than 50s in the Fillies Mile. Can't believe Elsworth would run her here without thinking she has some sort of chance, he's in a bit of form, and she got going too late last time. I also think that 2 year olds are not only developing physically but mentally and this is a tough mile for fillies, primed for an upset.

Anyway i think she has alittle chance.

Just a few that i like for now...

    Worcester...
2.45 - Vivani, 13/2 - Thought his 4th placed run last time was enough for me to try him again here...
3.20 - Vertige Dore, 2/1 - If he gets over the fall lto and jumps well i think he will take all the beating...
    Haydock...
2.05 - Venutius, 10/1 - runs well here at Haydock, placed last 2 times. Has a chance if getting a lead...
4.20 - Wayward Glance, 7/1 - Ground conditions to suit, and a winner at this distance...

Good luck to all who play today... <ok>

Not a big play day for me but taking a chance with the fast improving filly ELECTRA STAR 1.50 overcame serious traffic problems at Ascot last time to win very easily .

    Hello lads.

Start of a smashing weekend of racing today but nothing strikes me as worth a bet today.Amazed Dettori didn't pull that filly up sooner in the opener at HQ..Clive Brittain group winner..<yikes>

Glad to see Alanza upped to G1 level tomorrow.Interesting to see how she gets on after several improved efforts.

GL all,I'm shortly off to Ireland for one of my mates third stag night!...twice divorced and only forty,he'll never learn!!
