I really fancy 3.40 Nottingham Chapter and Verse 9/1 tomorrow. I'm more than convinced he's capable of being an easy winner of this mark in the near future. He was a very unlucky 3rd 2 starts back when meeting trouble but still finished 1.5L behind the winner. LTO Chapter and Verse again met trouble, which unfortunately seems to be a common occurrence for this grey gelding. If getting a clear run on ideal Good to Firm ground from a fine draw than I think Chapter and Verse could make an absolute mockery of this price tomorrow.

I also have been waiting a long time for 5.30 Punchestown Burn and Turn FC 2/1 to run again after she absolutely destroyed a strong bumper field over C+D back in May by 9L. She was one of the most eye catching bumper runners of the season and I think she has a bright future ahead of her. Although she seemed to excel on ground slightly better than what is expected tomorrow, she has put in good efforts on heavy ground so I don't think it will be too much of a concern. If 2/1 is on offer tomorrow I will be all over it as I think Burn and Turn could absolutely annihilate the field tomorrow after a 5 month break

I was just about to start a thread but Roto has already started the daily thread so will put it here. I was told that Rockweiler in the 5.15 Nottingham is expected to run well tomorrow, it's 10-1 early show but hardly any with odds. I am told that they are amazed that it has not got it's head in front yet this season, but hope today it will as it has fallen down the handicap to a decent mark. I am very reluctant to bet at the moment and this is an amatuers race as well which puts me right off but will have to have a bet. This is the worst time of the year to bet in my opinion as the flat winds down with lots of maidens with trainers getting a run into the horse and others gone over for the season, whilst on the jumps all fitness is taken on trust. It is for that reason i am rarely betting except for a fun play at the weekend. Good luck if anyone fancies a little play on it as well, i wont be going mad though on a class 6 amatuer race i can tell you, i will most likely go each way if it opens at that sort of price when the main bookies price it up.

Haha as soon as I saw tomorrows racing I knew you'd be on Chapter and Verse ROTO- I'll be on too, best of luck! :)

    Others I like tomorrow include:

2.00 Nottingham Simple Jim 13/2-Cannot believe this horse has not gained a win in 2011. 8lb below last winning mark now, conditions fine and has proven stamina. Hopefully De Sousa can settle him in a good position, preferable around 3rd or 4th and then let him have the chance to outstay them. Some cracking efforts this year and off a mark of 54 I hope he can get his head in front at last.

Bravestofthebrave 4/1 (NB) This is a maiden which should not take much winning, and the standard setters look a little exposed. John Gosden's Bravestoftherave represents a yard that does well in these sorts of maidens and is the full brother to the decent Elusive Award (rated 86) and winner first two career starts.

5.05 Haydock- Texas Holdem 12/1 Surely this horse is overpriced given its form since last November-254313B3. Those form figures have been in class 3 and 4 events and clearly the horse is up to this level. Was in the proces of running a big race off a mark of 116 when brought down. Obviously vulnerable to unexposed types as a 12 year old, but is very consistent and should offer e/w value.

7.35 KemptonJack of Diamonds (NAP)-Very well backed to win a big field conditions class 2 event at Ascot, Buick was booked and it came with a cracking run late but was never on terms. Clearly is thought to possess a bit of ability and the loong Kempton straight should give him ample opportunity to run on late. I thought was very interesting at the prices and will be backed into a little shorter.

    Morning all,

Good deed already done for the day!!

Basically I paid a small amount to allow a young lady to use the bus this morning, she was rather embarrassed with not having enough money on her to pay (on a side note - bus fares are ludacrous). She was very polite afterwards and we got chatting a little, anyway enough of the good samaritan.

The point is I think I am due a little bit of good fortune -

    4.25

    Free Zone

Bryan Smart has had another productive year with 70 winners, group successes and all from a string of around 75 horses. He is a talented trainer who is also very shrewd (not in the Tabak notion of shrewd).
Free Zone won his penultimate start on similar ground to today and I think he is still open to a world of improvement. He found it all a little too much in the listed heat last time out, when he was drawn badly and never really was given much of a chance, and I think we can draw a line through that effort.

I just hope Busy Bimbo doesn't beat it!! <laugh>

Ron, hate to say it but Not606 didn't come into the conversation <laugh>

Whilst on about buses, not sure if any of you follow me on twitter (Nassauboard) but I have been doing a bit of social commentary in regards bus journeys. Anyhow, we often get the same regulars on the old bus, and one always puts a newspaper under her backside when she gets on the bus. One of the old 606ers suggests its an age old cure for travel sickness, but I don't buy it.

Anyone have any theories as to what she is doing? and do you agree with the travel sickness story?

I have heard the paper travel sickness remedy before. It's not confined to the UK either.

Spanish parents use brown paper for their kids to sit on long car journeys if they have a propensity to chunder.

Morning all, hope all is well.

Back from NZ, what an experience that was. The celebrations on Sunday night where quite incredible. Once in a lifetime moment.

Not been following the horses while i was away but I was very keen on Texas Holdem at the price so a shame to find its a NR today.

Whats the deal with Border Reiver Danbo mate?

Afternoon, people. The flat racing has that 'end of term' look to it today so I am leaving well alone. The jumps cards though are far better and I will nominate one making its bow in this sphere:

Ishikawa (2.20 Haydock) - My regular readers will fondly recall me tipping this one to win on the level back in May and I think he can go in again this time over timber. As well as winning that heat at Wolverhampton Ishikawa also ran respectably to be placed in his other 4 races on the flat over the spring/summer. Now he is given the opportunity to do the job that he was bought for and you can guarantee that he will have be well prepared by his top jumping stable. Quotes of 12/1 appear on the large side to my eye and he looks a fair each-way proposition. Let's hope that he 'brings the bounty back to the county'.

Meanwhile Nass, as Dexter says, that 'newspaper on seat' thing is most deffo a supposed travel sickness remedy. In my younger days I used to be a sufferer now and then and have heard this alledged 'cure' mooted on several occasions. It's almost certainly an 'old wives tale' with no medical support whatsoever but if someone believes it works for them I guess they will stick with it.

    Good luck one and all.

Hi Guys, i'm going in for a bit more that normal today on PIPPA GREENE in the 3.25 Haydock about 7/4 which for me is far too big and i'm not a short price backer normally. Perpetually didnt look a straight forward ride to me in a slowish run race the last time... on and off the bridle so i'd be interested to see if that ones temperament improves. PIPPA should win comfortably and i'm hoping for a strong pace home reports are excellent. Good luck to everyone today.

Tomorrow evenings card at Kempton Park is much, much more eyecatching than normal. Popular, what a lovely name for a filly by the way, a full sister to Midday makes her racecourse bow. Meanwhile, I can’t believe that in the opener my old fave, Oldjoesaid, is dropped into claiming, I say claiming, company. Bet there will be huge interest in him after the race.

Interesting stuff in regards the newspaper. Is it wrong that I judged the lady by the fact she was reading one of the influential broadsheets (She for reference is now thought of a weird hippy lefty commy lady) which stood her out as being of alternate thinking

BEEF TO THE HEELS 4.30 6/1

    SUPREME CAROLINA 5.30 7/2

After Prospect Wells win yesterday I have backed him at 20s with some of the winnings for the SN making him the first Ante Post bet for Cheltenham. He was very impressive and I look forward to seeing him up in class. Have a good day all - back to work for me now :emoticon-0106-cryin
