An interesting card at Kempton today which was moved to the venue when Ascot abandoned. There are some very interesting horses running with questions waiting to be answered. The horse i am most interested in seeing is Saamid who has not been seen since last years 2000 guineas where he suffered a small fracture to his leg. This was a horse full of promise at two years who Godolphin have obviously felt it worth persevering with. I cannot back him but will not be surprised to see him win if fit as he could be a different class to these. I am also very keen to see Burwaaz - He was placed in some very good races last year and they obviously feel Sprinting may be his game this year, he is well entered up and i think he may be the one with the highest hopes this year and if fit could easily go in today. From a punting point of view Kempton 3.45 Solar Sky 10-1 4.20 Burwaaz 7-2 Best odds guaranteed Good luck all
Morning, troops. Hope everyone in good form. If I can be a bit serious for a moment though I must say how disappointed, saddened and distressed I am once more by this new policy to seemingly let ‘anything go’ re the naming of racehorses. Last week we had the terrible scenario of two fillies called Dank and Tatty racing against each other and today we have a 2YO making its debut called FAT GARY (2.20 Pontefract). A debutant should project hope, a potentially bright future and the possibility that anything is possible but I’m afraid this moniker does none of these and I feel for the poor beast. No racehorse should be named as such and surely I am not the only one who laments over such an outrage. On a more upbeat note interesting to see that Mr Henderson has a nice looking filly entered at Fontwell Park in 2 days hence. SEAHAM HALL is a half-sister to the extremely useful pair of Clowance and Keys. Could be another star, for the forum’s favourite trainer, perhaps.
SBC, i am somewhat confused. You havent stated your postion on todays 'fare'. Is it safe for the forum to assume the no bet banner is fluttering in the breeze over Chuckles Tower?
And another thing Barney - please explain your new Avatar. Not the old Chuckle Towers is it? Looks more like Tower Hamlets
Really hope Saamid can get his career back on track, starting today. He looked electric as a 2YO and his clash with Frankel in the Dewhurst (which ultimately failed to materialise into a challenge, possibly due to the ground) was one of the most anticipated 2YO races I can remember for years.
couldnt agree more about Saamid. followed the horse as a 2 year old and good to see him back. Sri Putra is another interesting one. probably the class horse in the race. more a race to observe than to bet on I feel though!
Hello lads. Some decent action today. Saamidd is indeed a fascinating runner and is one of the greatest hype horses of the last few years.Frankie revealed after he won the Champagne Stakes that his stable moniker was "Pegasus".He had a lot to live up after that unfortunate revelation. Cracking little contest.
Don, sorry, I’m sure my regular readers have been left pen poised in mid-air because of me being somewhat unclear earlier on. Today is a ‘no bet’ one with the banner employed. Oddy, it’s a picture which really hasn’t transferred very well at all and I will have to update it as its not very clear. It’s of the racing establishment most identifiable to people in the UK and broadcast into the homes of 15 million people a week (even at its peak Aintree racecourse only gets 10 million, whilst Cheltenham and Ascot just 5 million). Barlow’s Bookies, of course, although its proprietor, that old rogue Peter Barlow, is not pictured. Meanwhile, it’s very quiet on here today. Is there a forum day out that the rest of us haven’t been invited to?!?
Not that I know of Barney, but I had both a pre-lunch and post-lunch meeting so posting time has been at a premium. Spicy fish soup, salad and "crinkle cut" chips for me today, with an apple safely nestled on the left hand side of my desk for later. Those crinkles in the chips really do add something in my humble opinion.
In other news I see Stephen Hendry has decided to retire. As he's just a month younger than my good self I can't say I'm surprised. I have trouble just seeing from one end of a snooker table to another and my cue arm is far from steady. Very good player in his heyday though and I think it will be a while before we see a player dominate the game the way he did in the 1990s.
Well said Oddy on the old crinkle chip front...greater surface area = extra flavour. Hendry is 16 days older than me but I beat him to retirement!
Free range scrambled eggs on thick slice toasted Hovis with a mug of decaf...I get all the stimulation I need from these pages.
Good afty all... It dos seem a quiet day on the forum today. Maybe the wheels of industry are keeping the forum posters away today... Or the racing is poor... Just to put forward on the 'What i had for dinner' list... Ive had a Pork n Chorizo burger with strong cheddar cheese, salad, mustard, mayo and tomato sauce on a bun... Dee-lishh... Anyway with a break in the snooker for a while a quick look at the racing shows a few races that i might have a play on... So with cuppa tea in hand a quick glance at the cards i will see if owt catches the eye...
You'll be reliving that burger with every burp this afternoon red Dex - do you make your scrambled eggs in the pan or use the microwave?
You can microwave a Rustlers burger if you want to... Anyway just a couple from Kelso later tonight... 6.55 - Crowning Jewel, 9/2... 7.30 - Posh Bird, 11/2... 8.00 - Cassius, 8/1... Nowt to be taking too seriously but i fancy them all maybe in small e/w doubles...
