I am not in the greatest form so you are probably better off picking your own but I think BENBENS 13-2 4.20 Cheltenham is worth a second look tomorrow. There was a lot to like about his second to Fox Appeal the time before last and the form of his latest run is working out well. He was only put up 3lbs for that and I think that the handicapper has been very lenient. He is still improving and has taken to 3 miles really well. I think he can follow up. I am told that the Lavelle yard fancy BALLYCARNEY tomorrow but off topweight he has plenty to do in my book. As I said though, currently cant pick my nose! Looking forward to seeing all you flat boys deliver the goods at Newmarket over the next two days!
Duke Of Lucca gets my vote tomorrow. Should be capable of winning that race The owners could have a nice double on the card with Iron Chancellor holding a decent chance in the slogathon at 2.35
Over at HQ... Been told its suffered terrential rain all day today, so see what effect this has on entry's / ground before having a stab with the bookies.
4.10 Newmarket: MINIDRESS 11/1 (NAP) A highly impressive Godolphin maiden winner who has been hugely underestimated here. She's in against some very nice two year olds from last year- Regal Realm/Russeliana- but there are two keys to todays race: a) Minidress had the scope to really fill out a lovely frame and b) The heavy rain from today softening the ground. She was outpaced at Newmarket last summer an a little green. She looks exactly the type to make a big impact from two to three, a real powerful stride and whilst she will be better over further later on this season, she will enjoy the going if it gets tough out there and I expect a really big run tomorrow at a really nice price. 3.10 Newmarket: SAMITAR 5/2 You're talking about 1000 Guineas form here against a field of inferior horses. Seriously classy filly, at home on good to soft if the rain has affected the course, and races prominently enough for 6f to not pose a problem. Fair price and I think she has enough juice to stop Balty Boys stealing it from the front. 1.50 Newmarket: POOLE HARBOUR 5/1 (NB) Initial reaction was that her 5th place finish on 2nd start was disappointing in a small field, but the form is excellent and the experience can be put to tremendous use here. Two horses from that maiden are rated 98 and 95, whilst the other was midfield in a Group 3. That is in maiden terms scintilating form, and Poole Harbour was in front of TRUMPET MAJOR on debut last season. Sets a very, very high standard, and Hannon usually has them ready to roll for this Newmarket meeting.
You've opposed both the juveniles that have gone on my tracker that are running today, Ceiling Kitty and Lucky Lodge, so I guess I better leave them alone!
3.45 Cheltenham- Woolcombe Folly 14/1 I will have to have a little dabble on my name sake today- although he has no way near shown the form he showed last year. But little e/w dabble @ 14/1 looks pretty good value. Nicholls has layed him off for a while so hopefully he shows some intrest and raring to go and with the ground on the soft side today should turn in to a battle! And him being fresh should hopefully play into his hands!
Lucky Lodge is interesting to be honest but I do have doubts about that race, whilst Ceiling Kitty will be too short in my opinion and is opposable.
It didn't rain that much here yesterday, a few showers first thing in the morning then dry from midday onwards. There has been no rain here so far today, though we are predicted 4-6mm during the afternoon. A friend of mine rides out for Marco Botti and one of her charges runs in the 3.00 Tattersalls Millions Sprint - SOLAR DEITY. They think a lot of this horse and my friend tells me he didn't feel right a few days before his recent Kempton run (4th when favourite). She told me yesterday that he is back to his old self and the more rain that comes, the better for him. He holds entries in the English and Irish 2,000 Guineas and was moved into Excelebration's box in the yard when he departed at the end of last season.
Morning all Stick, keep em coming Melodrama did run well and i will be watching Nice stuff from PN, stay frosty
I have a funny feeling that Lily's Angel will run a big race for MPR today, she was ultra tough last season and they like to get their runners ready for seasonal reappearance.
I'm on her Nass, read Richard Fahey's column on the Sporting Life website yesterday and he sounded quietly cofident
A few for me today. There is a small chance I'll get time for write ups later. Got to agree with Toppy on Poole Harbour. Achieved far more than anything else in this field on paper 1.50 Newmarket Poole Harbour 7/1 NAP 5.30 Cheltenham Megastar 12/1 5.55 Newmarket Gung Ho Jack 40/1 NB 9.05 Kempton Mitie Mouse 14/1
Have the Hannon team had any winners recently, because im liking the sounds of Poole Harbour but I cant remember them having many or even any winners lately so that would be a worry
9/61 this season and 3/20 in the last 14 days http://horses.sportinglife.com/Stats/SL_14day_Stats/0,12676,FT,00.html
It's started raining here at HQ, though not heavily. Pricewise today is LILY's ANGEL in the Nell Gwyn (12/1)
I noted Solar Deity at Kempton Princess as he was far shorter than he should have been which did suggest he was well thought of, I have just had a bet at 14's on him so thanks for the confidence boost in him. I have also had a word for Ballesteros in the last each way, so have back that as well and put them both in an each way double as the prices are big. Good luck all
1.40 Bev Ceiling Kitty 9/4 Betfred Experience and a great draw which is very important at Bev, bounce out and make every post a winning one
