I just wanted to get a big mover up early as I believe its money worth following.

    Taunton
4.10 Lord of the Dunes 5-2 from 6's
The Tizzards are generally quite astute with regard when they put the money down and I consider this worth taking with a best odds guaranteed bookmaker.

3 50 Southwell -Better Value -only run twice here -a win and a respectable sixth. Yard in good form -14/1 good each way value!

    14.20 Southwell- Stand Guard -11/10

Looks like a 2 horse race between La Estrella who if he wins this will match the record and wont be easy to beat. But there is nothing between these two and at weights and the price he just seems to be the stand out value. He won 7 times in 2013 and didnt take long to get back to winnning ways this year, when giving weight to Kiama Bay who has since gone on to win. He will stalk the fav then make his move at the crucial time

Have to take you on with this one!

    Al Alfa- 2/1

He should find a little easier than the races he's contested of late, he is the class act of this race and proved himself to be a horse in form when runner-up in a stronger handicap, on similarly testing ground, at Warwick last time out. He seems to thrive on this ground and stamina wont be a problem- I can see him dictating the pace from the front making all and turning this 2m 110 into a real test and run the legs off of the rest of the field!

The only trouble with the stalking wooly is the fact la estrella goes further comfortably and the impecable track record

They may go for other tactics with that in mind but I just feel Stand Guard has beaten more than La Estralla as of late- His bubble will have to burst sooner rather than later and just feel tomorrow is the day and at the weights and price SG will be very hard to shake off but hopefully it will be a cracking race whatever

This is quite a coup -two low level but ultra reliable horses doing battle -with records at stake. Personally I shall be rooting for la estrella -highlight of the day!

q Question for Stick--can you shed any light on Green Hackle who is down to run in the 3 40 Taunton--was with your trainer last year, run in some races with very decent company--(mountainous - king massini -to name two)--but obviously didnt progress as anticipated--do you think a move to a different yard(sherwood)could benefit--if so he is thrown in --at 33/1 ?

Back to the Big Clash at southwell- see the 'opposition' are running scared-down to three runners-i suppose it was only effectively two-so alan berry's will pick up some money for a racecourse gallop--La Estrella always seems a tough kind--will battle back when headed--a great attribute at any level--while Stand Guard is more of a sneak thief--follows the pace and pounces at the end-dont think La Estrella can be ridden any other way--well not to win --so provided there are no mishaps--Cantillons to win by a short head !

The early price of 18s (and 11s) was a bad spot by the bookmakers. He has good old form, likes cut in the ground and is on a very appealing mark. Throw in the yard know the time of day and I thought it was a likely sort. Seems many thought similar.

    3 today

    Luctor Embergo 120 s/w 11/2
Waldorf Salad 140 Taunton won well on Friday at a far better price. EVENS!!!
    Al Alfa 410 Taunton 2/1

All 3 are best price races with Betfred so hopefully some drifting but more importantly a winners a winner!
3 singles doubles and a treble

It is a fascinating clash Wooly and I will watch with interest. Although not a fan of Tom Queally I would choose him over Graham Lee at present. Lee had a real purple patch on last years all weather but did not carry it through and I have seen some poor rides lately. If La Estrella has the more proven stamina then this horse must choose to go on and Tom has little choice but sit around two lengths behind as at Southwell ground is hard to make up quickly. It will then be a case of who has most left in the last furlong and half after the ground has been covered at a pace of Graham Lee's choosing. I would go for Stand Guard if I had to choose.
