On a more serious note that shows how naive I can be, even at my age. I listened to the trainer and thought that's it. Looking at the form of the winner I can see how a case for that one could easily have been made. On GF going in a much stronger race:
"chased leaders, pushed badly left and lost momentum inside final 2f, rallied and stayed on same pace inside final furlong". That was over 6f as a 2yo and his pedigree strongly indicated a mile would be no problem. I reckon connections knew they had the winner there. I do love hindsight; best free education there is .
