Racing comes from
Bath
Yarmouth
Thirsk
Beverley
Killarney

8:00 Killarney - Ted Veale- 4/1

A massive step down in class for this fella having his 1st race out of graded company since August, previously being aimed at some higher level chases incl when falling in the arkle at Cheltenham, then under performing at he national meeting at aintree, fair to say he's not up to that level but the previous county hurdle winner is surely using this as a confidence booster and be targeted to some tougher chase racers. With the hood on for the 1st time to sharpen him up and Barry making an appearance the signs are there and is a huge price and shud easily take gold based on his hurdle form

Beverley today, weather looks good. Should have good ground and a few fancies, nothing strong:

2.00 - Eye Glass 10/3 - Good draw and experience, main market rival has a very poor draw
2.30 - Windofpower 6/1 - Dropped a couple of pounds to a mark he went very close off previously, Fanning back on board and a great draw
3.00 - Singing Star 9/2 - Unlucky in running here last time out, plum draw and looks to have a mark she is well capable of winning from

Morning, troops. Nothing for me today and if asked to sum up today’s racing in 2 words I’d say, ‘woefully lacking’. In fact it’s the sort of day’s action that you only wager if you are either in the know or in the need of a straightjacket. I’ll let members decide who falls into which category. Who has been talking to their moles, insiders and contacts and who has been talking to themselves?!?

However, and I do mean however, I’ve a real ‘live one’ lined up for Friday. Regular readers sit up and take note! The beast’s owners are based in the county and it is what we all dream of but rarely manage to find. Yes, that’s right pilgrims, a Group horse running in a handicap. Keep ‘em peeled.

Good luck all.

Mr Henderson now ‘levels’ to be crowned Champion Trainer this NH term. The price in this market that has led me to chuckle uncontrollably, incidentally, for a full 10 mins is Ladbrokes quote of 5/1 for Jonjo O’Neill. Have they forgotten to add at least one '0' to that number?!?

Not running at Newbury, not running at 4.45 and not trained by old boy Charlton. Although I am rather intrigued to know who the horse is that you are all talking about! Is this a proper plot rather my mad ramblings?!?

Nass, I see your horse goes again tomorrow. Going rather Northern aren’t you! Should anything be made of this especially seeing as the word ‘firm’ appears on the racecard?

Only that he is going North in search of easier races with Bobis incentives.

Anyone like some Cheltenham news?! Paddy Power have cut FAUGHEEN into 3/1 for the Champion Hurdle. With 6/1 freely available they've certainly made their minds up on his likely destination. Interestingly they've trimmed Un de Sceaux into 5/1 jt fav for the Arkle and left Vautour unchanged for it. They've introduced a JLT market where they've only got one horse in it, yes that's right, Vautour. I've been hammering Faugheen at 6/1 and 7/1 for Champion together with doubles with Vautour for the Arkle and have now added UDS into that pot (at 10/1) as well.

Crystal ball gazing suggests that the following looks probable, but knowing Willie the below is clearly subject to change (!) but having a mid-July stab it looks to me:

Faugheen = Champion
Vautour = Arkle or JLT (JLT slightly more likely?)
Un de Sceaux = Arkle

As I say I've been hammering Fau for CH and accrued a far few doubles with the other 2 for the Arkle.

What do you mean by hammering Beefy?

I have also had a little bet on Faugheen and Vautour but nothing big and I'd be fairly happy to leave it as is until we see something more concrete from the yard re most likely destinations. As great as Faugheen has looked and as big a supporter of his as I am, his jumping is ****e and that will always be a concern.

Hammering as in frequency of betting as opposed to huge sums Bob. Mainly on the double I mentioned which at 41/1 doesn't require huge amounts to be potentially yield a decent return. Have also peppered both horses in different markets. I'm happy to keep those two on side for wherever they go and at the same time I won't be out a fortune if neither comes up!

I don't think Faugheen's jumping is ****e, but it's hardly flawless either. The mistakes at Cheltenham I'm pretty sure he was merely playing to the crowd, similar to the goalies 'diving for the photos'... ;) Over 2 miles at a better gallop at Punchestown he was pretty dam good. Could well be one of those horses you just keep the revs up, and be positive on him and he'll wing them for you.

That's a decent little novice chase for the time of year in Killarney at 9.00. Was very taken by Ballylongford's chase debut and Cailin Annamh looks more than capable of winning this type of race too particularly on this ground. Mullin's favourite romped home the last day but the form could be suspect as Steps to Freedom went out very tamely for some reason and the rest would struggle to beat the ambulance home. Not sold on Charles' Byrnes Domination but that could well be because I thought he'd win the Newmarket Caesarawitch but he ran like a drain in it when I was on...Trappy race but decent summer jumping all the same.

Hope so Wooly <ok> Surely Simonsig is a Ryanair / King George type rather than an out and out speedster like Sprinter Sacre? I doubt they'd meet for that reason.

I very strongly think if Sprinter Sacre does return though he won't be the same.
