Racing today is from The Curragh, Newton Abbot, Redcar, Stratford, Tipperary, plus top-class Arab-breed racing from Newbury. Please post your naps, if any, and I'll stick them below. (Congratulations to Cyclonic for getting the winner of the Toronto Cup Stakes in far-off Woodbine yesterday evening. Really far-off for him in Queensland). Naps: halpins1: 2:05 Redcar - Yeomanoftheguard (N/R - Withdrawn). Bustino75: 3:10 Curragh - Kirinda
I just want to say good luck to Danbo today with his nag running up at Redcar. Looks to have a fair chance too. I think the trainer of his other nag could have a good day today and I am waiting to see the prices for the fantastic first at Redcar in which we see a few interesting runners.
Redcar 2.05 - Fine Kingdom A race that seems to revolve around the ability of two newcomers, Asatir and Beyond Conceit, both of which cost a good amount at sales and look likely to be good long term prospects for their illustrious connections. Asatir really interests me, he is bred to be very useful and the yard are getting winners. He is a full brother to Elusive Quality the UAE group winner, and I think that sort of breeding will make him high on everyones list. I am wary that this is a Suroor juvenile as its been the Al Zarooni yard that has been getting the better juveniles for Godolphin. I also think he will be underpriced in this race against a field of lightly raced potential improvers. Against him I really like the chances of Fine Kingdom, a once raced juvenile from the Dodds yard, he to me looked a likely improver when he ran fourth in a fair maiden at Redcar. The form of that race is working out nicely and I think he is a potential improver who is nicely priced against the favourite. 16/1 BOG 0.5pt EW
Three for today 2.40Cu Zip Top 3.10Cu Kirinda NAP 3.45Cu Dancing Rain The wisdom seems to be that Wonder of Wonders was the moral winner of the Oaks and that she'll get it right in the Irish version. I'll go against her with the Oaks winner Dancing Rain and hope that she's improved as much again as she did from her previous race to her Oaks win.
I really like Wonder Of Wonders, she is a beautiful looking filly and I think a proper gallop will suit her a good deal more than the one she ran with at Epsom. I can't back her at the price and I do think Blue Bunting and Dancing Rain are good opponents but I do see WOW as the best filly in the long term. I have done a little L15 today 3.05 Melodize 4.15 Pepper Lane 4.45 Christmas Light 5.15 Wood Fairy I hope its going to be a very good day for SDS and David O'Meara
Good luck, personally I think its underpriced today but it has a great chance on the form of its debut. I am really interested to see if this Tate horse continues to get backed as it is very taking on paper, I can't believe you can get 20s for my selection, I thought 16s would be the standout price when I backed it earlier.
Anyone any thought's on the Open today? From a personal point of view it would be great to see big Darren Clarke establish Northern Ireland as the best golfing country in the world but it'll be difficult! Think Dustin Johnston may be the one today but only if big Darren gets off to a shaky start! Should be great viewing.
Thanks for the kind words Filon. Can I ask the name of Dan's horse Nass? I'd like to listen in a and urge on his charge.
Beeforsalmon: Hope Darren Clarke wins this now, but it'll be tough. My own fancy at the start was Martin Kaymer, but he dropped off in the bad weather after a pretty good start. Think he is just a bit too far behind on even par to catch the leaders? Cyc: Danbo's horse is also known quietly as BPG. Took me ages to work that out!
I have just placed a trixie for a bit of interest today as i quite fancy Wonder of Wonders in the big race so have selected a couple running before it to hopefully have a decent stake going onto it before the race to make up for the short price. Redcar 2.05 Asatir Quite an ordinairy maiden and for Godolphin to send all the way to Redcar indicates are actually keen to get a win into the horse and not just give it a run. If i fear any its the Tom Tate newcomer beyond conceit. 2.35 Dean Irrachat This horse is capable of winning races as it showed last season. It has not hit the target yet but showed is ready to with a second last time out. Horse is Favourite and S De Sousa booked to ride indicates that this betting stable may mean business today. Irish OaksWonder of Wonders This for me was best horse in the oaks (let me down on a nice bet unfortunately) and only a fantastic ride by Johnny Murtagh denied her, i expect her to win comfortably today making the Epsom form look as false as many suspected at the time.
Man In Form is at the Curragh today with another handful of losers 14.40 Fire Lily 15.10 Seta 16.50 Maarek
One from me today, 4.50 CURRAGH KOLOKOL 9/1 first time out for his new stable Henry Candy has a nice strike rate with his sprinters and certainly knows how to get them right first time around. Has form in group 3 company where he finished 3rd to the very talented Marchan D'or.
