Racing today comes from Carlisle, Kempton and Naven.

As nothing seemed to happening on the racing front, I popped up the page.

    CARLISLE.

    KEMPTON.

    NAVEN.

Normally I post a thought here, but today I'll put up something different. I was trawling YouTube when I came across the Three Tenor's version of Nessun Dorma. My father was heavily into opera, but my idea of music was Bob Dylan. Anyway, I decided to track down other famous tenors doing the same piece, Pavarotti, Gigli, Corelli, Bjorling and Lanza. Then I came across this. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Alessandro Valante. Crank up the sound.

Nice bit of culture for a Sunday morning Cyc <ok>

Early double at Navan - Zaidpour (4/9) and Mount Benbulben (8/11) pays 11/10

When I was a gambling man I sometimes felt that I attacked things arse about. I loved a heavy track on a tough course. It gave me a chance to try sorting the men from the boys. Sometimes you could actually spot a very nice priced horse who would put in a great run for you. They were money days. Naven looks that today. If I was still punting, I'd be smiling.

1.05 Navan - IPSOS DU BERLAIS 13/2 (BOG)

Although there are only 4 runners for this Grade 1 Hurdle it promises to be a cracker with 3 exciting prospects running against each other. Mount Benbulben is going to be a short priced fav and rightly so as on the bare form so far he sets the standard. However at 4/5 I certainly want to take him on and I feel Ipsos Du Berlais offers some very good value at around the 13/2 mark. I am already on this horse AP for a few races at the festival and I am hoping for a good performance tomorrow as he will need to run a big race otherwise Chelts will be off. The selection was seriously impressive when landing a Galway bumper on debut by 10 lengths and looked a natural over hurdles when winning at the first time of asking at Down Royal by 5 lengths on the bridle. Although sent off 2/5 fav last time out he lost nothing in defeat against a decent horse with more experience and I expect to see a better performance tomorrow. He will relish the testing conditions and if he is to be beaten by either Mount Benbullben or the exciting Boston Bob I don't think he will be far away so he is worth chancing.

With hindsight Graham Wylie must be over the moon that Howard Johnson got banned. Forced him to send his horses to some proper trainers.

    Hello lads.

Was just about to extol the credentials of Leggy Lad in the 2.35 at Navan but see the chase card has been abandoned.Typical but probobly save me a few quid!

Gonna have a look at the La Liga fixtures to relieve the yuletide boredom...could always start drinking heavily mind you...so many options..

GL anyone playing the last few races.

Oddy,I wonder did you have Ruff Diamond which won at 7's...no doubt named in honour of Sid James' character in Carry On Up The Khyber!

    :emoticon-0148-yes: Oddy.

I think Pep would agree, losing David Villa for 6 months against some Arab outfit...ridiculous competition...but money talks.

Puts Spain in a bit of a sticky wicket re strikers with the peerless Fernanado Llorente also out for 6 months after suffering cruciate knee ligament damage.

I like Germany for the Euro's...we have no effing chance!!

Swift arrow in the bumper at Carlisle @ 11/2 looks an e/w bet to nothing considering connections would be a win only bet apart from the favourite with dickie riding for tim Vaughan so safety first but can't see it being out of the 1st 3

Unlucky NTD.He travelled well but didn't get home.

Carlisle is one hell of a stiff track at the best of times, never mind in Winter ground, especially when they start to race so far from home.
