Can't see that the DT has started yet so have done it!

Fancy Hit The Top a bit in the 2:30 at Carlisle on his chasing debut. Has a squeak and had a nibble at 5/2, but I guess in my current form it's one to avoid LOL!

GL today to all those having a wager!

Sorry about the lousy typing effort in the title! Ron/Oddy please correct!
    Many thanks!

Thanks Swan. Will have a look at the cards later but I think maybe Byerley Babe in the 15.40 Limerick. Baby Shine has the form to win but is too unreliable.

Edit. Oh dear, no price at all. Could be dutched but hardly worth it; would have preferred the odds the other way round.

Another 4 or 5 of those and you'll soon have your The New One stake back <doh>

'The most confident I've ever been in a race', 'The Irish should sit this one out' <sorry>

key word you missed out there beef, and what happened in the race tells you why you can never be as confident about a jump race.

Happy I was pretty much spot on about the race, the Kempton race was the strongest form, Hurricane Fly was unplaced, The New One should have won and the only thing I couldnt account for was Jezki improving about 10 pounds on what he had shown this season.

Really getting tired of more excuses for this horse.

I laid HF and backed the new one but accept he was easily beaten, just like at Kempton when MTOY was actually going away at the line.

A serial unlucky loser is generally that...a loser.

He is thus far a hype horse....the amount of bullshit spouted by his trainer is endless...and endless...and endless..

Dex no offence m8, but I think you dislike for the trainer is playing a small part in your assessment.

Perhaps Eddie..I remember his anti press antics and hissy fits re Imperial Commander but tbh I never let emotion affect my punting.

His son is by contrast the epitome of everything that is good about sport..His remarks directly after the CH when he prioritised the wellbeing of OC over his own travails were those of a very classy young man.

Totally agree, STD came out with a lot of credit, not least for ride, but for his comments afterwards even though you could tell he was absolutely devastated by what happened to him.

As possibly The New One's biggest supporter on here (pretty much banged on about him from day one). I have watched the race a few times now and I really am not convinced that he would have won. Had that sad incident occurred in the last half mile I would agree but coming down the hill STD had him probably where he would have wanted. They left him behind soon after that and he flew up the hill.
His defeat was for me more about being outpaced 3f out than losing 6-8 lengths early on the race!

    Just my view.

Very magnanimous Stick. My initial reaction was what you say now but it could be wrong. The faller certainly doesn't aid but that doesn't mean it prevented victory either. One thing I know is I'm not getting into any discussions about it this year.

This crop won't ever race each other again. New dynamics. New horses. New jockeys. Different ground. Personally I think the World Hurdle was the stronger race as it turned out.

This coming from you stick will do for me then pal... If 'your' saying that he might not have won, and you are his biggest fan, then that's enough for me... I thought he would be right amongst it had he not been hampered, but you would look at the replay with a different eye and mind to me...

Always the next race to look forward to, and im sure he will do well...<ok>

My little postscript to this also. STD is fine young man and a decent horseman but stick Ruby Walsh or AP on the horse and there would be more 1's than he currently has. THE NEW ONE for me is best hurdler in training but I think he would be better served elsewhere!
