I just thought i would start the ball rolling on a really good days racing with TV coverage from Doncaster, Goodwood, Chester and the Curragh. There are many races to get stuck into and i look forward to reading everyones opinions as usual. At this early stage i can see a stand out 3 selections that are all short prices so perhaps a Trixie is called for today.

If there is a weak selection it is perhaps Sea Moon who for some strange reason after his last run nobody could see past him whilst now everyone is getting jittery about him. I find when that usually happens it does so for good reason. This considered i am still going in for him as that performance was one of the most visually impressive of the season and i would feel an idiot if i let the generous prices around at the moment (2-1 and could drift further to 5-2 ) go unbacked without any solid reason.

    Doncaster
    2.05 Entifaadha 5-4
    3.10 Sea Moon 2-1
    Goodwood
    2.20 French Navy 15-8

My selections so for tomorrow wil prbly add some tomorrow, but my 1st initial ones are....

2.05- Daddy Long Legs e/w 11/2= Has a decent chance AOB only runner in the race so must say something about this

2.35- York Money win 8/1- Keeps improving and reckon this race will be right up his street

3.10- Blue Buting (NAP) Win 3/1- Trainer supplemented a pacemaker- wouldnt do that without think she has a real chance of wiining, the ground will be a worry for Sea Moon as well as the jocky just to many things against the favourite!

3.50- Fame and Glory NB Win 5/6- Not much value and wont get you rich quickly but imo a safe bet JJ looked good in the Prix when stamina was not a problem but the O'briens horse will have too much quality

Anyway im off to bed busy day infront of me tomorrow so see u guys at some point tomorrow!

Daddy Long Legs 2.05 Doncaster 11-2

Nice debut at Gowran Park – this is obviously a big step up but he is open to plenty of improvement and represents top connections.

    Addictive Dream 2.35 Doncaster 20-1 E.W-

Strong travelling horse that will pick up one of these big races sooner rather than later in my opinion. Booking of Dettori a plus and has a big E.W shout at a very generous price.

    Cry Fury 3.45 Doncaster 7-2-

Progressive horse and trainer does well with these types

    Pearl Charm 4.50 Doncaster 16-1 E.W- i

Is capable of much better than she has shown in her two latest outings. Highly regarded by connections and may well run a nice race at a good price.

    Crusade 2.40 Curragh 5-1

Looked very good when winning over Course and Distance last month – 5-1 is a very fair price

    Power 3.15 Curragh 11-4 (NAP)

Form horse and should relish the step up to 7f- will be very hard to beat

3.10 Doncaster- After a massive, massive consideration: MASKED MARVEL 7/1 (NAP)-

John Gosden sounds very optimistic about this horses chances, and there are various reasons I have eventually ended up siding with him. Firstly, he has the speed as well as stamina to really worry Sea Moon, who did not face anyone with the speed in the Great Voltigeur. It's important because possessing speed enables you to get into positions in staying races that give you a chance of winning, which I think has cost Seville numerous times this season after staying on but not having the gears to get in front.

You also have to remember Masked Marvel was left in the Derby over NATHANIEL, and although ground concerns were an issue, it is clear Buick and Gosden thought a lot of this fella and even now Buick insists that being carried wide by the outsider in the Derby completely messed up his race. I intitially felt he had the run of the race at Newbury against Census, but having re-watched and studied, Masked Marvel did exceptionally well after wandering around a little bit in front to hold off the late charge. I feel there is a lot more to come and off a genuine pace his speed will really come to the fore.

My each-way bet of the St Leger is a surprising one, in the form of GENIUIS BEAST 50/1- This may sound crazy but the ground has been quickneing up over the last couple of days and unless the rain comes, will be bordering on good-good to firm iun places, which is crucial to Genius Beast's style. He has stamina for sure, and ran out an impressive winner off a quick pace when defeating Auld Burns and Masked Marvel earlier this season. De Sousa ought to have him sitting prominently and if they go a gallop on any sort of surface resembling 'quickish', he will kick on with a bold bid for home IMO. Ground is absolutely crucial though in my opinion, so watch the skies.

    2.35 Doncaster: JIMMY STYLES 33/1 e.w (NB)-

Course and distance winner, won all of it's races over the 6f, and put up some excellent efforts this year in varied Group Company. Frankly it is the standard setter and what a terrific effort it would be to defy top-weight. I think it may well be possible with a bit of luck in running. Excellent effortsd in defeat behind the likes of HOOF IT, DEACON BLUES, and SOCIETY ROCK (GROUP 1 horses) suggest this is better than a handicapper and that is why it can defy top-weight at a lovely e.w price today.

In the first in Donny I'm so so near to have a no bet race considering I've backed 3 of the 4 main players and although I think Red Duke especially will take some beating I was very, very taken with Daddy Long Legs' 11/2 debut run. I thought to myself "that horse will be special" and with the Group 2 entry on 2nd start it just strengthens my belief. If you had told me I was backing against Red Duke 3 weeks ago I would have laughed in your face but I've a strong belief that Daddy Long Legs can take this

In the big sprint I had two, then Hugh Taylor cursed Waffle and halved the price I took earlier in the week. I've a nice bet on at 16s and although I wouldn't outright recommend people to take the 9s on offer I also wouldn't discourage them.

The other horse is one I backed LTO and who has done me nothing but favours is Dungannon 10/1. Seems a very progressive sort and I see him getting involved at the finish at a decent price.

Promising debut at Naas when keeping on nicely from well off the pace to take fourth behind Lady Rochford in a six furlongs fillies maiden. First foal of a dam who was successful up to ten furlongs, and this performance indicated plenty of improvement may come with an extra furlong or two. Should certainly benefit from this experience, and looks sure to win races.

Morning, all. Happy St Leger day to you all. The final classic of the term looks a nice race as indeed do a few contests this afternoon. I’ll put forward:

Sea Moon (3.10 Doncaster) - put up a breathtaking performance to win the old Voltigeur by 8 lengths. The ease with which Sea Moon ground his opponents into the ground was quite literally something special. Should have no problems staying the extra 2 furlongs and I really can’t believe how this colt is not odds-on. Looks a different class to his rivals and hopefully will put up another vintage display.

Deck Walk (4.35 Goodwood) - what a lovely name for a filly by the way. I thought she put up a very sound effort last time at Newbury to defeat Sir Michael’s Whispered and had been expecting a rating more severe than the perch of 80 that she has been granted. Despite having to conceed weight all round today I feel that Deck Walk more than capable of obliging.

    Good luck to all.

POWER looks big at 3's in the 3.15 at the Curragh. I'll nap that one.
Seville in the Ledger is the each way call at 10's.

I fancy Compton Spirit for a hatrick today 13/2 William Hill Bath 3.55 hes absolutely flying and race is quite weak. Probable main danger swendab 0 from 4 at the course.

Morning everybody, hope we are all spiffing today.

Another day with no jumps action :-( I just can't seem to get as excited about flat racing these days and end up not really studying the cards but just selecting horses on a whim. Therefore the one to avoid today is Swiss Dream in the 2.35 at Donny.

It would be lovely to see Blue Bunting take the Leger for the fairer sex and a few of my Euros will be on her.

    Good luck everybody <ok>

I think this is the perfect race for this horse and he has already won over course and distance. He is drawn in 2 (and stall 1 is a nr - two of these today which is truly amazing) and I think his last run sets the standard for this race, add in the replacement of Franny Norton with Paul Hanagan and I can see many reasons as to why he will start shorter than 7/2. The only worry is the form of the yard but I think the lack of a win recently is more about the quality of horses rather than form of the stable.

By the way, did everyone see that Larry had a winner the other day. Well done Larry.

Really frustrated with Tanya Stevenson interviewing Mike Dillon on The Morning Line this morning. I wanted to know why Ladbrokes were intent on leading the march against Sea Moon but as usual Tanya was rabbiting on and ran out of time with him
