    Well after a slightly disappointing day for myself, was a good days racing though cant wait for Day 2 to kick off. My Selections are;

12.10 - Hinterland- A very short price favourite for this race and is currently the market leader for the Triumph Hurdle in this years festival. So will need to win this to maintain favouritism. I fancy him to carry this on and just cant really see anything getting close to him- He looks a fantastic horse and definately one to watch out for the for the future

13.20- Havingotascoobydo- Have changed my view on this in the last minute, was thinking of the popular vote of Tanks For That- but i think he will be weighted too high, Havinggotascoobydoo is weighted a lot closer and although is up in the weights by 5lbs TFT is up 9lbs for that win last time out. 8 year olds do have good history in this race winning the last 3 out of 5 but he is open to plently of improvement, But will probly wish I hadnt swapped my choice oh well!!!

14.30- Ghizao & Woolcombe Folly e/w I have to bet on my namesakes, he is not with out a chance but I feel he may just have too much weight didnt jump to the best when second to the peterborough chase winner. But him winning yesterday may just prove the class of the race that day! Ghizao if he finds the form when beating the arkle winner CC he will have too much for any of this field but that is the big question if! He is unproven over this distance but I fancy him to have got the cobwebs out after his disappoitnng run but this is a classy horse on his day and is definately in with a big shot!

15.05- Overturn- Has had a sparkling bit of form, beating 2 very good horses in Oscar Whiksey and Binocular! This will be his last run before a well deserved break, He is chasing a quick hat-trick of wins, I think the ground will suit to the tea! Grandouet im not overly confident in this season anyway, I reckon he could be in for a bit of a bumpy ride again tomorrow. Overturn will go out very quickly and put the rest of the field under pressure (something he has done very well in his last races.) And expect him to win this!

15.45- Oscar Whiskey Another short price favourite- Looked to start to have had the better over Overturn at ascot in his last outing! But this looks like a great opportunity to get this horse back to winning ways. He turned into a really high class performer last term, highlighted by an excellent Champion Hurdle third behind Hurricane Fly. Nicky Henderson is talking of taking on Big Buck's later this term, so should be winning this to have any chnace what so ever to take on pne of the best long distance hurdlers of all time.

Good Luck to all having a bet!

Sorry Woolcombe, it appears we were posting a new daily thread at exactly the same time. I will copy mine onto yours below and Hopefully Ron can delete my thread.

I thought i would start the ball rolling on a days racing featuring a really good card at Cheltenham, with some horses that could very likely be big players come the festival. We have some seeking to prove they are the real deal such as Hinterland who looked very good last time out, whilst Mossley looks to show he is a chaser by taking on a very good bench mark for Grand Crus in Champion Court. I am looking forward to the overturn show rolling on again as he keeps turning over more favoured horses and must surely start creeping into Champion reckoning if he can win well today against last years winner of this race Menorah, whilst the day ends with Oscar Whiskey who should show he carries no scars from his last hurdle fall last time out.

Biggest tip of the day must be Sunnyhillboy, AP McCoy leaving aside Quantativeeasing to sweat down to 10-4 to ride.

My selections will be as follows

    Cheltenham
    12.45 Champion Court
    2.30 Sunnyhillboy
    3.05 Menorah
    3.35 Oscar Whiskey
    Doncaster
    3.20 Tullomore dew

    Hello lads.

I'm just back from a corking night out with my old buddies and can't believe that Golden Chieftain in the 2.05 at Lingfield is even trading at odds against.

Love this horse. He is huge in stature and talent and is going straight to the top.

    Clear round he wins.

6/4 is a steal even with Tizzard in the plate.

    Only bet for me tomorrow.

    GL lads.

    Ducal 9/2

Really like the look of this 3 unexposed 3 year old who makes his debut for the Mike Murphy yard after joining for 20,000G from the now retired Sir Mark Prescott. After a backward year as a 2 year old, Ducal made his debut this year back in May and after an inauspicious start to his career, he showed his first real promise on his handicap debut off a mark of 67 when finishing a 1.75L beaten 3rd in a Class 5 over tomorrows C+D in September. Breaking from the widest stall 12, an obstacle he'll have to overcome tomorrow, Ducal took a sit at the back of the field and had to race very wide throughout before making a late surge and he was never closer than at the finish. It was a very good effort and the form of that race isn't working out too badly with the 2nd Dasho winning the other day off a 1lb higher mark and the 5th winning a claimer on his next start.

Raised 1lb for this effort, Ducal's next effort came at Kempton over a mile in a similar event 12 days after his handicap debut where he was sent off favourite to finish a 1.25L beaten 2nd. After breaking slowly from a good draw in stall 3, Ducal was once again forced to be held up towards the rear of the field and race wide for most of the race before coming with a really good effort down under the hand of Seb Sanders but the winner had flown at this stage and once again he was never nearer than at the finish. Although the form of that race isn't great, it was another likeable effort as he had to overcome a lot negatives that day.

Raised another 3lb for this 2nd, Ducal shed his maiden tag at the second last attempt when winning over C+D off a mark of 71 back in October when triumphing by half a length. Once again Ducal was drawn widest of all in stall 10 and on this day he broke better than he had in his previous two efforts which allowed him to race more prominently after forming a line of three at the head of the field after riding 5 wide into the first turn. He stayed up with the pace throughout and had to race wide again but under an enterprising ride from Sanders he kicked coming off the home turn and had to be ridden to the line to win by 0.5L from the fast finishing Good Authority. The form of the race looks very strong with Good Authority winning convincingly on his next start off the same mark by 3.25L and the 3rd Chokidar has won twice and come 2nd on his 3 subsequent starts so it proves Ducal beat a few decent horses that day.

On his final start, Ducal race unpenalised for his win where he finished a good 0.5L defeated 2nd to Chookie Royale again over C+D at the end of October. From a less than ideal draw in 7, Ducal again broke well and after a furlong or so he was brought to the front to make a line of 2. Once again, he was enterprisingly ridden by Sanders who employed nearly identical tactics as he tried to steal a march on the field by kicking just before the home bend. After looking like he had done enough, Chookie Royale got up close home to deny Ducal with his 2nd successive win but the front 2 drew well clear finishing 6L ahead of the third and although Chookie Royale hasn't run again since to give a clearer indication of the form, it was a likeable effort by both horses.

As stated, Ducal moved to the Mike Murphy stable after this run and makes his debut for the yard tomorrow. He's only been raised to a handicap mark of 75 which I think is very lenient considering how far the 2 horses drew clear LTO and that it is also the mark he won off 2 starts back. John Fahy takes the ride and its a pretty intriguing booking as it represents only his 5th start for Murphy and as Murphy currently owns the horse I think its a bit of a strange one. Once again Ducal has the worst draw to overcome in stall 12 but he has run two very good races from wide berths so I am not concerned as I normally would be. Ducal is also tactically versatile which is a big bonus considering he has broken slowly on a couple of occasions. Although I think he is on a very good mark anyway, Murphy generally tends to get immediate improvement out of his horses so I think Ducal could be potentially much to good for his rivals tomorrow. This represents another Class 5 event, as have his last 4 outings, so he is a proven winner in this grade. He's clearly on the upgrade and with a record of 3-1-2 over C+D I am very confident of an excellent showing from this unexposed 3 year old tomorrow.

I can't desert 2.30 Cheltenham Great Endeavour 8/1 who I think is ridiculously overpriced considering his recent exploits and record at the track. Granted, this 3rd run in short succession may be asking a bit too much but I don't think Pipe would risk an injury by running a fatigued horse and if this is the case 8/1 looks massive

1.20 Oh Crick - 11/1 - Handicapped to win a race like this and I was impressed with him last time when he had to try and recover too much lost ground. Needs a clear round but I have backed him EW

2.30 Medermit - 10/1 - Top class on his day and he isn't too high in the weights for this. This Grey gelding could easily win this in a canter. EW bet again.

3.05 Sanctuaire - 16/1 - Another horse who is classy and today has Ruby Walsh in the saddle. He is better than he showed last time and I think he has the ability to upset this field. EW again.

The Twister has been hopelessly out of form but that has to change sometime and I think Astracad (NAP) looks very interesting in the 1.20 at Cheltenham. A 140 rated hurdler with form behind the likes of Menorah and Bobs Worth, he took well to fences on his debut, scoring at Perth where he benefitted from Champion Court spilling the champ. He has since had 2 attempts at the "top table" of novice chasing where he was beaten 14 lengths by Champion Court at Aintree and 7 lengths by Al Ferof at Cheltenham. That last bit of form is the one that makes me feel he could go well here - clearly Al Ferof is a very, very good animal but Astracad ran a very good race in defeat and was miles clear of the others. I think he is the least exposed of the field and 138 may be a workable rating for his first try in handicap company.

"dAN DAN DANO where do i start Listen,Tennis Cap has his first run for us in the 2 mile 4yo maiden hurdle. He is a nice type but is really more a hurdling type than a chaser. He was second in a bumper in France and has schooled well at home. He will like this ground and should run a good race.
Local Celebrity (named after RV) goes for the maiden hurdle over 2 miles. He was carried out at the first on his hurdling debut in Cork but, if he reproduces his best form here, he looks sure to go close. He jumps well and will like the ground.
Turban (no jokes from oddy today please, they were hite the last time ) runs in the 2m 4f novice hurdle. He exceeded expectations when winning first time out at Thurles and we hope he will be suited by the step up in trip today.
This looks like a very "hot" race and he will have to improve quite a bit if he is to get involved at the business end
Strain Of Fame runs in the handicap hurdle over 2m 7f. Now that he has gotten stronger he seems to handle soft ground and he is in here off a handy weight. He ran well last time but we are taking a bit of a chance stepping him up so much in trip here.
Popcorn goes for the 2m 1f novice chase. He jumper naturally when winning at Thurles last time and will be suited by this track. Ideally he needs a longer trip but, with the stiff track and heavy ground today, he should go close.
Skorcher has his second outing over fences in the beginners chase over 3 miles. He ran well enough on his chasing debut over 2m 4f and will be better suited by this longer trip. He will handle the conditions and should show improvement from his last run. AND FINALY Champagne Agent runs in the bumper. He should be up to winning a bumper and will handle this heavy ground. Hopefully, he has improved since his last run but Noel Meade’s horse will be hard to beat
so there you have it big fella, never mind Chelts get on these, you know it makes sense and ive never mugged you like i do the mech"

Leg 2: Harry The Viking (4)
    Leg 3: Dubai Crest (9)

    1 @ £14
    £14

    Singles Bets:

    JOIN TOGETHER 12.45 CHELTENHAM (NAP)
A promising staying chaser who won well at the Paddy Power meeting in Nov. The second has won well at Chepstow since, and with doubts against many of the field, he should be able to follow up.

    GOLDEN CHIEFTAIN 2.05 LINGFIELD
The selection was going well when falling at Exeter, before following up in a poor race at Uttoxeter. It looked like he was going to win at Exeter, and if he can put in a clear round, he should be hard to beat.
