Don't worry lads, the weekend was just a blip in the space-time continuum and winners will once again be ours on this fine day.

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he today that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon Monday April 2nd 2012.

Turf flat at Redcar and Kelso over the sticks.

Win yankee for me at Kelso:

2.30 Beidh Tine Anseo - "This ****ing thing has got to win some time soon"
3.30 Kai Broon - "It's either this one or The Thirsty Bricky but I think it's this one as the other is up 17lbs"
4.00 Makbullet - "Och aye dunnoo - goan Campbell"
5.00 Rudemeister - "That's me after a few bottles of Becks"

Plus a small e/w on Whozthecat in the 4.15 at Redcar

Best of luck my fellow punters <ok>

Pinetop Perkins sadly no longer with us but what talent. Some of you may remember the 1993/94 Budweiser advert featuring him:

Blog is updated for the two juvenile heats. Not the best racing or betting heats but winners still have to be found. Suffice to say I will see better maidens this year, and probably better sellers too!!

Evening Wooly. You could have bought Syd's dog a tin of food with that loose change.

Agree with Dascombes, CEILING KITTY, at Kempton, very eyecatching debut RV. It was Mel Brittains LUCKY LODGE that took my eye in the Brocklesby (winner excepted of course) went off at 40-1 but ran a really nice introduction. Can see that one winning soon.
I see two from the Kempton race are out at Redcar tomorrow. I like backing two year olds that have had a run, often means a lot. The Channon horse may go much better over a straight five as it looked clueless around the turn at Kempton!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So NASS, did you not see this?
With my current level of form you may wish to change your mind about the seller!?!?!

Best of luck but I will be backing it!

Amanda is fine thanks Wooly. Very painful still but she lunged a horse the other day. She went to England for a shopping spree to cheer herself up. We had the vet out to look at the horse's teeth and she has a problem wolf tooth which will be taken out on Wednesday. As far as we can tell the saddle is OK but she hasn't ridden since - hope its's OK.

In a field of six or seven Ron, if one or two have had a run and the others are all making their debuts it's often the case that the ones that have had the run will have an advantage.

Experience.

Yet, I still follow the Millard Maxim (one for those who have listened to Sportslive radio) from time to time. Shorter than 2/1 and all that.

Oddy: Good morning to you. Enjoyed the original introduction, which had some real relevance after a bloody Cheltenham for many of us. Think it was Branagh doing the speech which I just heard on video, but not entirely sure as he looked so young!
Don't bet great amounts any more, 50 € usually my limit although double-it on rare occasions. Like to build up a bit with bookie if I can (certainly not lately) and play with his money - which I usually give back to him. Still intend waiting for the soft ground vis-a-vis Haafhd progeny. He was a real galloper who loved a bit of cut, and he seems to pass on this preference to his offspring. Unless the form in question is really bad, I'll be 'on'. Tell you one thing, Nassau is the guy to follow when he hits form, and form he has hit! That was a great double the other day. Never been too happy backing two-year-olds early on, but many punters swear by it and make money.
Have a successful day, the winners will come back soon, I'm sure.
(Pinetop Perkins was great, but my all-time favourite in that line was a guy called Albert Ammons, don't think I have ever heard a bloke who played boogie-woogie like he did).

Say, this one ain't bad either:

and one by Albert Ammons:

Morning all... Cheers Oddy, a great way to start the day with some boogie woogie... 96...!!! Jeez he had a great innings and looked like he entertained many a folk during his time...

Whats your secret to living so long...?
Coz i like it here...!!!<laugh><laugh><applause>

That line can only come from a 96 year old... Brilliant...

Anyway, back to the racing, or should i just leave it and listen to more boogie woogie... Or maybe both...

Back in a bit with something to go with my foot tappin...!!!

Afternoon chaps.

I'm backing Civil Unrest e/w in the 2.30 at Kelso 7/1

The claimer is used when the yard has a chance of a win and most importantly the form of his last two races looks pretty good to me. I'm a huge Aland Islands fan and although this one was smashed by him he ran well for a long way but the class told in the end. Before that he ran the progressive Royal Entourage to a few lengths giving him loads of weight. It all looks set for a good run today. I'm very hopeful.

2:30 Kelso - Civil Unrest

Quelesprit beat me to it and have to agree with him (hope I don't mogador it). All I can add to what Quel has already said is that, looking at the form, the young rider Nathan Moscrop seems to get on well with the horse, and, on a breeding line, good ground may well be the key. Civil Unrest has been quite well supported on three occasions too so must be showing something? Will have smallish win bet at current odds available, BOG of course.

I only just realised that Trafford Lad collapsed and died at Navan on Saturday - awful news. My condolences to connections, and RIP fella.
