LITTLE CHIP 15-8 Font 5.00 yes its a bit skinny but its still value at that price. I think the yards last five runners have all won. He won at Market Rasen at the weekend surprising even his handler about how much he had improved and simply has to take advantage of his current mark. Kielan Woods takes off 3 of the 7lb penalty and in my view there aren't many better NH conditionals. More winners to come over the weekend, that's a promise!
Orthodox Lad 4/1 Newland is imperious at Fontwell. This chap ran a blinder in a hot listed handicap at the weekend. Only beaten by his stable mate Ahyaknowyourself. He runs off the same mark tomorrow and has a big chance if capable of backing up his last performance only a few days later
Am off to Fontwell tomorrow with the old man cant wait- Had a look at the card and picked those two out so cheers Bob & stick for re-assuring me lol 15.50 Fontwell- Fruity O'Rooney- 6/1 Cannot believe he this price- He finished fifth at the Cheltenham Festival, and then had is final race when wininng an odds-on success at this venue in April. Is he easily the best horse in the race and altho he may need longer, with all the rain we are having down here he will appreciate the softness in the ground and if it turns into a stamina battle he will win hands down against any of this lot
Was just thinking the same Woolly but he'll have bigger targets this season and with the rattling ground I can see Australia Day making all. He needs to win while the ground is like this.# Edit: unless it turns soft of course
Also one i do like the look of is the 14.40 - Kingslodge altho still a maiden over fences- has apparently come back better than ever and looks a picture and old boy Mr Henderson doesnt send many down to fontwell so it must be a sign
Horsted Keynes in the 4:50 at Ascot is the selection for me, has run on the AW so far but I know they rate him quite high, and im confident he can improve and transfer his form onto this ground.
Light rain at the moment and more of the same in the morning but a ground drying 16mph wind tomorrow! I love Fruity but I cant see them "overfacing" him this early in the season!
My only bet outside of Fontwell tomorrow- 15.40 Ascot- Goodwood Mirage- 10/1 Has rapidly progressed this year and is intresting to have Ryan on board for the 1st time- Won very well at his local track over 1m1/4 and put in some useful performance (with the exception of epsom- where his saddle slipped) including lto when he was backed to the boards and losing was out the question, but a performace like that he will go very close indeed at this price is a definate e/w shout!!
Fruity O'Rooney is a lay for me lads. Starts off season 140 and if he wins today it will surely mean the majority of the season will be used to get him down to a workable mark. Although it should be run at a very good clip with all the front runners, 18f the shortest he's run over in his jumping career and will surely be too short. Has needed his seasonal reappearance most years and I think Gary Moore will be looking to just give this old boy a nice introductory spin. Couldn't begrudge him if he wins though and if he does it will be a rare occasion that I don't mind having my money taken!
2.00 Ascot Rebellious Guest 11/1 George Margarson's 4 year old Rebellious Guest has found life tough in difficult seasons but he shaped with much more encouragement on his last start and off a mark of 85 I think he could prove a big threat in this open looking contest. A very decent juvenile that saw him an impressive winner on his 2 starts outside of Group Company, Rebellious Guest's 4 runs as a 2 year old earned him a rating of 99 and he's largely struggled since then. He had 3 starts as a 3 year old (twice Group 3s) and it was a largely disappointing campaign although he was seen running on late in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot to be beaten less than 5L at Royal Ascot last year and he started off this year rated 97. In his first 3 runs this year in ultra competitive handicaps (all at Ascot; twice C+D) he finished out with the washing but there was definitely a lot more encouragement on his latest start at Yarmouth off a mark of 88. Well supported on course from 14/1 into 17/2 for the shrewd Margason operation, Rebellious Guest was held up keen in a race that was slowly run for the most part under Jamie Mackay. Still with quite a bit to do, Rebellious Guest was hampered when looking for a run but after receiving one smack behind the saddle he stayed on nicely under a sympathetic ride to beaten a little under 5L in 5th which was undoubtedly his best run for a long time. That race looks like it will work out strongly with the winner Ocean Tempest destroying what looked a competitive handicap at Chester off 4lb higher whilst the 6th Albaqaa ran a solid race in the Silver Cambridgeshire subsequently. I think the handicapper has been very, very kind to drop Rebellious Guest 3lb to a mark of 85 and his 4 runs this year have seen him fall 12lb to what looks a mark he can definitely be competitive off. On the back of his new rating, Rebellious Guest can ease again into a Class 4 contest for the first time and although it looks a competitive handicap on paper this will definitely be his easiest task for a long time and I'm hoping today he can score again for the first time since his 2 year old days. Although he has to shoulder top weight of 9-7, only 6lb separates the 18 runner field so its not too bad and regular 2 year old pilot Tom Queally gets back on board for the first time this year. Drawn in stall 7, Rebellious Guest has options from his pretty central position and there seems quite a bit of pace on in the race which will suit his hold up style. George Margarson has his yard in good form at the moment and he landed a touch at Wolves in style last night and I'm hoping he can make it 2-2 for October with Rebellious Guest today. I think a little ease in the ground will help Rebellious Guest a lot (although I wouldn't want it very soft) and if building on his latest run now dropped in grade I'm hopeful of a very big run from this lightly enough race 4 year old and hopefully he can land this prize and kick on again to somewhere back to his best.
HEXAM 220 POLARBROOK 9/2BIG BIG WIN BET Not many 2nd favourites at this price catch my eye and not on the first race I look at D Mccain jnr will be looking at this 7k race wondering how they are not favourite , jockey maguire takes the mount for the 4th time in a row (winning one and placing twoof the previous) the down side if you can call it a down side is they are up in class the plus side to that though they are down to a very very low weight . There last win was over this distance i don't think any conditions will bother them . My main REASON is this they have rattled around this distance some 30 seconds faster than there rivals that includes the favourite. Hence the odds look massive. Good luck all on what already looks like an active friday
Maarek 9/1 for the Prix De L'Abbeye on Sunday. Ground officially soft and should rain more by then. Drawn well in stall 7. McDonogh back on board after the successful partnership last time out. I'll be overjoyed if he can win this!
Afternoon all, real national hunt weather today! Fontwell 2.40 Ski Sunday 9/2 Hexham 4.05 Rhymers Ha 2/1 Single and Double
2:00 Ascot - Bay Knight e/w (Had a bit e/w at 16/1 BOG. Distance could be a bit short for him, but ground has cut in it and track is a pretty demanding one).
