Racing today from Lingfield, Warwick, Exeter and Wolverhampton & Thurles and Dundalk from across the water. I wanted to post up a horse in the maiden at Lingfield. The horse in question gave a really creditable account of himself last week in a race with a hot favourite that was always likely to prove difficult to get anywhere near. There is nothing of that nature in this maiden however and if coming on for the introduction and running to the same level he could quite easily take this contest. Lingfield 2.30 Gabriel the Terror One other thing to mention is that the horse Coilette Cailin is turning out again in the last at Lingfield. This was the horse where Tom Queally came in for an almighty amount of stick earlier this week for getting the horse beat. I read somewhere that the trainer even gave him a public dressing down afterwards which is not often seen. He is of course jocked off tomorrow even though at the meeting and without a ride in the race. On the strength of that performance the horse is going to be well supported but its to be noted that the race earlier in the week was a maiden where as tomorrows is a handicap. In my opinion the horse has a great chance of winning but I will not be backing it as it is actually a much more competitive race than the maiden it ran in and has a couple of potential improvers plus some more seasoned handicappers, this is in contrast to the race which should easily have been won earlier in the week which was really very poor indeed and should have took very little winning. The horse may well scoot in but it's a whole different race tomorrow and I wonder if the horse will be far shorter than it should be. I lost my money before and it's tempting to try and recoup it but I will likely sit it out.
Got to admire the constitution of the 16 year old Victory Gunner who lines up in the 4.50 at Exeter. Started his national hunt career in 2002 and has recorded a win most seasons. Infact his last win, in April 2013, was a 10 length drubbing of the favourite in tomorrow's race. Reoppposes on slight better terms tomorrow too. Got to be worth a little cheeky ew on the old boy.
Morning, At last the sun came out here yesturday! Ron has put all my trial bets on one thread so to keep it simple so thanks for that. Its progressing slowly but is in profit. Last week I think most of the week only 2 meetings running in the daytime so was quite with some heavy goings. For anyone wanting to join this forum I recommend it. I fancy another double today both Lingfield. Fingers crossed. 1.30 Zamra and 2.00 Matraash. Also like the look of Uxizandre in the 3.40 Warwick Good luck with everyones fancies today.
Morning, comrades. Hope everyone keeping the red flag flying high. What, what. I see that one of the best bred horses we are likely to see on the level this term makes his debut in a 4 runner affair at Wolverhampton this eve (7.30). Tarrafal is by Shamardal and out of Cape Verdi. However, it should be noted that he’s been evicted from Godolphin’s barn and is now ‘ooooooooooooop’ with old boy Johnston. Just one to watch today though as the front 2 in the market in this heat do look potentially quite nice from what they have shown so far. Certainly given his illustrious pedigree I bet old Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wouldn’t have expected him to be debuting here as an unheralded 5/1 shot! The one I will recommend to the dear, dear regular readers though is at the other all-weather venue REGAL DAN (4.00 Lingers Park). He’s got a very poor win to runs ratio (just 1/14) but he could be too classy for today’s rivals as he drops below ‘Class 3’ level for the first time since his 2YO days. Although winless in ’13 Regal Dan ran some very respectable races, against quality opposition, and a drop in his perch to 85 makes him appear attractive here. Furthermore, you can Guarantee he will be trying with a capital ‘G’ as connections need a nice win here to get him into next month’s Lincoln. 11/4 seems fair to this correspondent and he really should be too good today, methinks. Good luck all.
Anyone backing in the leading tipsters handicap 320 Exeter my moneys on virginia ash 12s ew the race could be run at the right tempo for ash and a place will probably be better returns than the fav winning
I like the pipe horse, put straight in to the deep end and put in to handicaps quickly- they must fell this horse has alot of ability He raced well in novice company this winter and his opening mark could be very generous indeed!
Now having time to take a good look, 4.50 THOMAS WILD 5/1 looks a good bet if supported, again if supported SONG AND DANCE MAN 2/1JF I am also confident that WAVING 6/4f 7.00 Wolves will struggle to win. Its a tall order. Agree with Bluesky about Coilette Cailin and todays a different race so just be watching that.
BOOM!!!! Knew that Flementine would do that, should have looked at in running as im sure i would have got way more than my 8/1, never mind. Hope some of you were on Hello all Massive fancy today... 250 Exeter- Midnight Belle. Tom Symonds is +£58 in handicaps this season and all 18 winners have had Felix onboard. Cant see it nit being placed so E/W but very tempted for just the win. Good Luck all
Makes ya wonder why more horses don't race on to a better age. It's hardly likely that Victory Gunner is a freak of nature.
EW Lucky 31: 3:10 Warwick - Badgers Cove 8/1 4:20 Exeter - Bertie Boru 8/1 4:40 Warwick - Bally Sands 7/2 8:30 Wolves - Pelmanism 16/1 9:15 Dundalk - Shake The Bucket 11/1 There's two outsiders i'm having a small punt on also: 2:30 Lingfield - Lillioftheballet 40/1 & 4:30 Lingfield - Titan Triumph 20/1
well they've pulled him out --so another day --maybe the venetia horse is to well in ?- done a r/f with fav and Lundy Sky- seems to run v well fresh -GL all
Welsh Inlet in the 300 Ling was full of running but had nowhere to go LTO-always a risk , but if it pans out more favourably he could win today.
Thomas junior is nr now wooly I think he will go well in the future mate but I think today might have been a nice tempo for him but maybe to far thomas seemed to struggle at 20f so the extra 2f in the deep end and the odds on offer didnt add up to me but as you say he raced well in novice company and definatly worth watching out for in the future
I must admit I liked the look of welsh and keniry onboard could be a good change , im on assirtive agent though so good luck
thats the fly in the soup for me, uncle--your pick!!--but Welsh Inlet must be ready to strike the way he was running last time--needs a pace and a gap!!
