Wanted to put this up early as I think Keltus is a cracking bet in the big juvenile race at Wetherby. Despite being green he was very impressive at Chepstow and I think he will have the beating of these. He looked a very strong traveller and really pinged his hurdles and for me this is a horse going places - potentially one of Nicholls stable stars this season. This is easily the best juvenile hurdle of the season so far with some very nice types but Keltus could turn out to be a little bit special.

Elsewhere on an action-packed Friday we have flat racing from Newmarket, Wolverhampton (AW) and Dundalk (AW) and National Hunt fixtrues at Uttoxeter, Wetherby and Down Royal. Oh yeah, and later on there's Day 1 of the Breeders Cup from Santa Anita, with the interesting races starting around 8PM UK time.

It's a cracking card at Wetherby and already in race 1 Oscar Rock will be a headline attraction as one of last season's leading bumper horses makes his hurdling debut and it will be interesting to see how the move from Harry Fry to Malcolm Jefferson has affected him. Division 2 of the Novices Hurdle is no less interesting with many of the leading yards represented, including the forum's favourite trainer with Rally, who should not be lightly dismissed with Bazza G on board. Geraghty also has good prospects in the 1.40 on Pippa Greene and in the 2.10 on Cantlow although I do like Noble Legend in that race.

Over at Uttoxeter there is a sumptuous novice chase with Colour Squadron, Raya Star and Tanerko Emery facing off, whilst the bumper should go to Wilde Blue Yonder.

AP McCoy takes a break from chasing his 4000th winner in Britain and goes over to Down Royal to ride Jezki for JP McManus - should be a steering job.

    Good luck Odddy <ok>

Really like the look of TWEED tomorrow in the 3.05 at Newmarket and think the early price of 6/1 is great value <ok>

I had a list of six horses "not to miss" from my days out at Hull Farm a couple of months ago. Only one so far has lost (Germany Calling), four have won and the last one on my list runs tomorrow.
CADOUDOFF Weth 2.45 tissue 12-1 is the last to appear and he will need to be every bit as good as they think he is. I kid you not that it is the strong belief of the yard that this fellow is Cheltenham bound come March. His French form may on paper appear ordinary but since arriving at Longdon's he has in the trainers words "improved beyond all recognition".

Squire Osbaldeston 1:30 @ Newmarket has a fair few pounds in hand on his handicap debut and should oblige for Lady Cecil.

I'll pop on tomorrow evening to run a Breeders Cup LIVE nightly thread to take us through the weird, sometimes wonderful, and downright action from our crazy cousins over in the US.

But of course, they'll already know that.

I spy with my little eye.... <laugh>

    14.10 Wetherby- Mon Parrain- 6/1

Was tipped as a Paul Nicholls star but hasnt shone at all but fresh could be the time to catch him tomorrow, and when I say fresh I mean 587 Day Absence. He was last seen when tamely folding at the end at newbury. Is a classy horse on his day this showed when winning his british debut at sandown- followed by a decent run at Aintree, he is very lighltly raced for a 7 year old! Nicholls doesnt send many up north and if he is going to win this season, you got to think this is his best chance

    14.00 Newmarket- Fig Roll- 7/2

I do like a Fig Roll with a nice cup of tea- but altho she has to concede weight to her rivals shouldering a 3lb penalty for scoring in this company on the July course in June, she came within three and a half lengths of subsequent Group 1 Moyglare Stakes heroine Rizeena in the Group 2 Queen Mary at Royal Ascot earlier this year, she looks to have the most experince, the highest rated horse in the field and looks like the one they all have to beat

    14.20 Uttox- Colour Squadron- 5/2

He is rated as highly as 143 over hurdles after finishing second in the Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown last April, but has not yet shown his best form in four tries over fences. He was, however, the subject of a big gamble in a Listed race at the Cheltenham Festival in March, when he finished fifth behind Rajdhani Express. While fitness must be taken on trust, he remains open to no end of progress.

    245 Wetherby - AINSI FIDELES/B]
Tom Scu flying from Utttoxeter to Wetherby to ride this one so the Pipe yard must fancy it

    1250 Uttoxeter - CARRAIG MOR
Fantasic repors from the point to point arena, could be rather smart

    Morning all,
1.00 Newmarket Stretchworth 10/3 3rd on debut over C & D and will go close today.

1.05 Down Royal Express Du Berlais 2/1 Won maiden point in spring by 25l and bought by Gigginstown shortly after. Gigginstown also have Speed Demon in the bumper here today that could be smart as well.

3.10 Down Royal Mullaghanoe River 10/3 Decent bumper and hurdle form but will be a much better chaser and can get off the mark today.

4.05 Uttoxeter Royal Macnab 20/1 Fell at last in maiden point when in contention in race won by Western Warhorse (subsequent winner for David Pipe) last spring. Sold soon afterwards for £40,000. Travelled well in bumper last spring before tiring badly at the end and finishing 7th. If fully wound up today i think he is better than that effort and could be a good e/w bet.

    Good luck <ok>

Diamond Harry is to try his hand at Cross Country races - being aimed at the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase on November 15 at Cheltenham.

Very talented horse on his day oddy, if they can get him back to anywhere nr his hennessy form he will blow them apart. Ran some credible races last year too! Got a soft spot for him
