The Guineas looks an interesting race. I can't help but feel that a 3yo classic over this trip, without Frankel, seems a little pale. But we can't expect champions to contest every G1 event.

Dubawi Gold ran a nice race behind Frankel last time, and looks a huge chance, but I'm not too keen on the price. So I thought I'd select a place hope. I've had an eye on Slim Shadey for some time now, and think him great value at about 20-1.

In the Temple Stakes, anything can win. It's a wide open race. It would be nice to see Overdose strutt his wares, but again, he's no value. So I've opted for the old stager Borderlescott on an each way basis.

3.00. Haydock. Borderlescott. Each Way. 12-1.
3.45. Curragh. Slim Shadey. Place. 20-1.

I think it's between Zabarajad and Dunboyne Express. Dubawi Gold represents pretty average form so to be favourite this must be one of the poorest 2000Gns for some time and therefore could be won by a maiden. Had Zabarajad's first race this season been a mile he probably would not be a maiden (staying on strongly over 7f almost got up). That form would have certainly put him in the first 5 of the POULE D'ESSAI DES POULAINS (GROUP 1) and may be good enough for this.

    1. Zabarajad
    2. Dunboyne Express
    3. Dubawwi Gold

We just don't know how good Overdose is. His defeat followed a stumble out of the stalls on soft going. His reappearance run was covered in 57.10 secs which is pretty fast on any track so clearly will take some catching. Kingsgate Native has some cracking form against top sprinters, particularly when close up behind Starspangledbanner despite being hampered, and he did win this race 12 months ago first time out. Has to have a chance unless meeting trouble again. I do like Tangerine Trees who, at 6yo, has come on leaps and bounds. Can he match the early speed of Overdose though? I've come to the conclusion that this is one hell of a race and I think I'll just enjoy watching.

Dunno Ron, have not seen too much of him of late. I'm sure that he'll resurface though.

Luckily I backed City Leader to place and a measly £2 win @ 25/1 on betfair.

Strange thing is I marked City Leader last night but didn't fancy strongly so did not post... The ones that look to have a small chance of winning, wins and the strong fancies don't. lol

Oracle gets beaten 1.25l in the 2000 Gns. My pick beat Oracle last time out by 1.5l and he was running on strongly at the finish. If he had reproduced that form it would have won him a G1. I wonder what happened there. Maybe if they meet again it will become clearer.
