To put a positive spin on it, it shows the club are always actively looking at who the next big thing might be, whethet it is players or management. We can afford to experiment with an appointment now with little domestic competiton. I would usually be concerned about a manager who doesn't onpw the SPL as they like to bring in passing players which can be pointless in our league!! Forget breaking records this year, just give the guy 12 months to adapt to SPL and he should be fine for when the competiton arrive.
With our set in stone budget, I don't think it matters who the manager is, I don't see us making the CL If he plays an exciting style of football and promotes our deserving youth players losing out on CL won't hurt that much for me I'd be delighted with a double in the end
As usual they have taken one or two negative comments from persons unknown and made this the headline.
I am not underwhelmed at all. In fact given the names touted I am very happy. The truth of the matter is he could be a roaring success of a bag of ****e. Let's wait and see. I do not see us playing champs league but I am a wee bit of a pessimist anyway. I see vid and Forster going. If we do not reach the co group stage then I will be happy if he gives the youth a chance to shine. If we fail to reach the group stages and he still does not give you a chance I will be beelin and will be calling him a **** that should **** off. However until that time, intae them ronnie
I'd be happy if Celtic drop into Europa league...that should be the goal - based on assumed budget and current squad...with champs league a stretching target. Agree with Mindy, want to see the next gen squad getting a chance... Supposedly delias old club never had any Norwegian u21 caps but since 2010 its approx 170 ...give youth a chance.
Speaking as a neutral I think this could be a great appointment. Let's face it anyone that has the approval of Klopp has to have something going for them. Just another tabloid rag spouting pish.
Time will tell, but definitely worth a try at breaking the mould ; all in all it goes with our policy of buying relative unknowns /developing players. If we had Guus Hiddink in charge I still wouldnt be expecting to get out of the champs league qualifiers with our current squad - unless we get a particularly favourable qualifiers draw - never mind the last sixteen due to what our our spending quite rightly has to be just now. We cant spend our way out of where we are in European terms just now so we need to look at development and thinking our way out of it to progress. The usual suspects didnt fill me with any hope they could do that - quite the opposite in fact. And theres the Murrayfield factor. Thats a bad `un for this year.
Development is the word for this season. Not Europe, not Treble, not Records. Develop the club correctly and all those others will come with time.
^^^^^^ f**k is this ****? WE WANT SUCCESS AND WE WANT IT NOW. Resign McManus, Jinky, Caldwell, JVH, Lennox, Larsson, Hartson, Gravesen, Petrov, Nakamura, McGeady, McGrain and Boruc who have the experience and ability to give us the immediate success we deserve as the biggest and most successful club in Scotland. Let's enjoy the journey and get back to where we belong: the kings of Europe.
