Today's racing comes from Beverley, Salisbury, and Yarmouth- followed by evening meetings at Gowran Park, Kempton, and Wolverhampton. Highlight at Salisbury is the EBF "Exceed And Excel" Upavon Fillies Stakes which has attracted several Class 1 performers. Favourite will almost certainly be Luca Cumani's Seta who, after winning at Goodwood, was found wanting behind Lolly For Dolly at Ascot. Like many of these, she now takes a step up in trip to 10 furlongs. This is certainly a tight contest, but it may be worth having a good each way bet on Roger Charlton's filly, Primevere. She has performed consistently at this level and was only just edged out by Sooraah at Ascot. Normal jockey, Steve Drowne, cannot do the weight, so Hayley Turner takes her only mount of the meeting. Best price currently is 9/1 from Paddy Power. What are members' other fancies here and elsewhere? Good punting!
Morning Tam, I like the idea of a jockey making a trip for a single ride. Did you see the tip on chat forum yesterday? Trev Santos posted a tip that he said was doing the rounds by text. He didn't know if it was genuine or not, but he and a few others followed and had a nice win. Grandad Bill 25-1.
Looks an interesting days racing today with Salisbury supplying the decent races. Going gd/firm, have they had no rain down south must be keeping it all up here in North Yorkshire A few i like the look of today and reasons why: 240Red: No bet but have been told to watch Swift Encounter, George has told the syndicate that he has improved but will make a decent 3yo! 450Red: Tricky race but Celtic Step will like the soft ground and looked to be running into form LTO. 300Sal: IF the rain makes Salisbury then Fire Ship will go very well as he won nicely LTO. 405 Sal: The best race of the day and an EW option is Opera Gal from the in-form Andrew Balding yard, again this lady prefers cut so hopefully the rain will make it there! 230Sal: Finally Mr Balding has a very good strike rate here and sends a nicely bred newcomer Top Cop to this maiden. For me he rates the best bet of the day. Be lucky all
4.50 Spanish Plume Took the eye on debut when given a tender ride and then similar rides the next twice noted it as a potential handicap horse. The official handicapper has also seen snippets of ability in those runs and given it a mark of 70 which looks fair on its form. The horse enters the handicapping sphere at a fair level and is overpriced today with the bookmakers offering 14/1 for him. Interestingly Reg Hollinshead has sold/leased the horse to a partnership for this run. It would not surprise me to see him win this. EW bet. 3.45 Chosen One A race full of winners and the one who hasn't won recently interests me here, Chosen One looks to be on a very fair mark and I think today could be his day. The rest of the field do not look to have much room on the official handicap (now Rainy Night is a NR) and I think Chosen One can capitalise. 4.05 Seta Standout on the form book and I think she can defy her penalty here. The trip is a worry but I think this could be her optimum and I actually think we might see improved form here from her. 2/1 looks a very nice price.
Morning all and I sincerely hope everyone is safe and sound wherever they may be. The whole of London was in total lock down last night - even the boozers closed early - so it will be "interesting" to see what happens moving forward. Sorry to do this to Tamerlo but my only bet today is also Primevere as i have been waiting for her reappearance since an impressive Ascot run.
Morning all, hope everyone is well. Tricky looking cards today, I must say I agree with Nass, think Seta looks a stonking bet. 4.50 Beverley Hurlingham (NAP) - was all primed to win last time out but ran into a real hotpot in Fossgate, finishing 6L second. Goes off the same mark today and has won with juice in the ground previously (off marks of 69 and 75 - goes off 53 today). Best of luck everybody
"Sorry to do this to Tamerlo.." Chippy, I can't understand your 'edit' - from Nass to Tamerlo. Shouldn't it be "great minds think alike," or more likely " fools pi-s in the same pot!"
I thought Nass had started the thread and tipped Primevere - I then realised it was you hence the edit! And yeah, great minds might just think alike
Not been on for a while but shall continue to pop in and out. One I like today, been waiting on it since it's debut and fully expect it to win. Gowran 5.05 Qatars Pearl Nap (Only Bet365 have betting up for this 11-4BOG)
Gaz, Doctor reckons upwards of a year to recover, even then it may not be fully right. Trying to work out a way of helping the body recover but its taking time. Very frustrating as I am unable to get a full week of work in at the moment. Got to try and keep my head up!!
Good morning sailor boys todays NAP is Bewilder running in the first race at Salisbury I saw my mate the other day, He said to me he saw the white Pele, So I asked, who is he? He goes by the name of Wayne Rooney, Wayne Rooney, Wayne Rooney, He goes by the name of Wayne Rooney...
Jeez Nass, sorry to hear that mate. I new the accident was serious but didn't realise the repurcussions were that dire mate! Fingers crossed for a full recovery - however long it takes
Gaz, its one of those accidents that seems to get worse with time. I was very lucky to survive to be honest and not having any visual breaks (although I did have a broken bone in my back) I was hopeful that it wouldn't take very long to get back to normal. However its already five months down the line and I barely can walk at times, I have to go for another full body scan next week, I just hope that they don't detect anything new and are able to give me some rehab. Got to stay positive, it could have been much worse!!! Although after all that I do have to go to Swindon today for another medical, what a hell hole Swindon is!!!
Right lost a bit of interest in racing the last few weeks and not really been studying or following racing at all, today I have looked at the cards and gone back to my old tried and tested formulas, hopefully it will re-invigorate me towards racing before the NH season kicks in. In no praticular order of preference here are my selction for today: Beverley 14.10 GINGER GREY 7/2 gets the ground he had the last time he won, down 2lb from his last run over C&D and with Champion Jockey elect SDS on board he is sure to go close today. 15.45 HAAJES 4/1 whilst not the reason i selected this one, it would appear it is the subject of a massive gamble in from 12/1. Big drop in class, good draw and handicapped to win and showed signs LTO of getting back to winning ways soon and is my NAP. 16.50 HURLINGHAM 5/1 i put this one up LTO as a very well handicapped type when running over 12f, today he drops back to 9f in ground that will be to his advantage. The drop in distance suggests a change of tactics and with useful jockey Phil Makin booked and the horse being 22lb better off from his last win i think he will go close again. Salisbury 16.05 CLINICAL 11/2 big things were expected form this Sir Mark Prescott filly this year, however, she sruggled in Group Company LTO in the Corination Stakes when tailed off last. Prior to that she showed she was more than up to the mark when a 3l third to the SBS trained ANTARA, with TIMEPIEC 3l back in 4th. Today she drops to listed Company and the extra furlon should suit. Yarmouth 14.50 SATWA LAIRD 2/1 dropped into Class 5 Company for the first time since 2008, where he won over 6f on Good to Firm. Runs off a cracking mark of 75 and in this small field and if he runs to his mark is more than capable of taking this and getting back to winning ways.
