Racing today comes from Ayr and Southwell.

With just the two meetings, it might be a bit easier to spot a winner. It often seems to me that the more cards on a given day, the harder it is to sort it all out. I love both Ayr and Southwell, so this is a big day for me. <laugh> Add to that the rain affected going at Ayr, toss in a few staying events and all all is well in my back yard. The 13:05 looks nailed on for the 1-5 chance Edge Of Town. He won a Novice by panels of fencing and is expected to win again, but I think Double Default has a chance. He ran a nice 5th in the 4 mile Scottish Borders National, a much better class of race. Maybe worth a very small investment. The novice could make a mistake. In the 14:10 another rough old slog, I thought I'd go right out on a limb and select the despised outsider Blazing Diva who probably needed her two runs in. Loves to get over some ground so might surprise at cricket score odds. Every chance that both of these selections will go like busted arses though. I'll take a punt and nap the first one to roll the 5s on shot.

AYR. Racing Abandoned.

Have had a go at a trixie today all at Ayr
1.35 Sammy Spiderman 15/2
2.10 Nevis de Beaumont 8/1
2.40 papamoa 9/2
Quite a few non runners since I put my bet on last night even tho majority aren't fancied in the betting not sure how they will effect payout if I am sucessful with bookies rulings but ill worry bout that if my runners do the business all have now shortened bit non runners obviously having an effect . Gl all who's having a go I've gone with plodders with proven heavy ground form as Ayr is going to be a real test

Hello, all. Hope everyone well and had a good Christmas. Meanwhile now that we have been handed ‘the keys’ to old 2012 may I wish everyone a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Nothing for me today though although I must admit that the card up at old Ayr is better than it first appears.

Meanwhile, please no-one back Dandino for Cheltenham or any other NH heat come to that. Several rogue bookie chappies are still quoting him but he has left Mr Henderson’s care and will now revert to racing on the old level. Oh and my old fave, Barbers Shop, is deffo definitely going hunter chasing and will be out in that discipline in the not to distant future! Crickey, what an hour Mr Henderson could have in 73 days hence – Long Run in the CGC followed swiftly by Barbers Shop in the Foxhunters. Tally-ho, say I...

This morn Pricewise has put up Captain Chris for the CGC then at 20/1. Unsurprisingly, almost all those bookie chappies have cut Pip Hobbs’ horse who is now as low as 14/1 (best price 16/1).

Not a problem Red. I'm sort of up in the air about the weekend mate. In the first leg, I tried all short priced horses and Wooly hit a 9-2 shot to put me in the hole. So in the second leg I had to chase horses at about 5s or longer. I got lucky. Don't know what I'll do on Saturday. Anyways, best of luck Red.

Love to own a horse like Punching. From a very quick count, he's been around Southwell about 25 times and only been unplaced on about 6 occasions. Should collect more cash for his owners again to day.

I'm not really keen on Hayley, but thought Ingleby's rider wasn't much chop.
