Happy New Year to all members. I hope you all had a good Crimbo and look forward to some decent racing- and weather! Here's my fancies for tomorrow: 3.00 Sandown The Italian Yob (Nap) His close third behind Mr Mole and Melodic Rendezvous looked good next time- and he duly obliged. He comes into his first handicap off only 10st 1lbs (after 3lbs claim) and looks a real bet. Best Price 15/2 Paddy Power. 3.30 Sandown Tartak. His 4th place behind Unioniste in The Paul Stewart Gold Cup at Cheltenham looks very average on paper, but it was noticeable that he stayed on well when the race was all over. Tomorrow he tries three miles for the first time and runs off a mark of 142- his lowest for 4 years. He must have a sporting chance- now dropped back to Grade 2. Best Price 12/1 William Hill Chepstow 3.20 Monbeg Dude He stayed on with real guts when winning over 28 furlongs at Cheltenham. It has to be significant that Paul Carberry comes over from Ireland for this single mount. Best Price 12/1 Skybet 2.25 Sandown Court Minstrel. After winning well at Cheltenham against The Romford Pele, he looked decidedly unlucky when third to Dodging Bullets and River Maigue- being boxed in coming to the last. He finished so well that he might even have won the race with a clear run; and River Maigue boosted the form next time. There may be a “smart one” in today’s field, but there will need to be- strictly on the form book. Best Price 11/2 William Hill.
I have had a few singles and all sorts of e/w double trebles and so on on a few on David Pipes: Wincanton 2.05 Grevery Chambertin 6/4 Wincanton 2.40 Consigliere 11/2 Chepstow 2.10 Shoegazer 9/2 Chepstow 2.45 Amigo 11/2 Sandown 3.00 Ronaldo Des Mottes 8/1 Good Luck
Happy New Year Tam The 32Red Hurdle at Sandown is giving me a headache! Henderson saddle's Royal Boy and Golden Hoof. GH was a facile winner LTO ridden by Geraghty but he has chosen to ride RB who was second LTO to Melodic Rendezvous - and I see no reason he will overturn that result. Throw in 3 from 3 Pendra, the promising Poet and equally promising Court Minstrel and you have an intriguing mix. I'm tending towards Melodic Rendezvous - probably because I can't choose between the Hendo horses! As stated elsewhere already - Monbeg Dude at 14-1 for the Welsh is a done deal
Happy new year Tamerlo. One horse for me tomorrow ew in the Welsh National Our Island. Really think this one is primed for a big run. Have had some 28s 25s and 22s. Best price now 16/1.
15.40 Sandown- Hey Big Spender 14/1 (NAP) A huge price for tizzards horse here. He ticks plenty of boxes, he was pulled up on his reappearance at Ascot, which is probably a big reason why he is this price. But recently but showed he had plenty of stamina when winning. the 3m5f Grade 3 Classic Chase at Warwick a year ago again under top weight. like wise when winning a competitive handicap too. So he knows how to win under these big top weight burdens. He is most definately the class horse in the race and if Joe can get him back to anywhere near his form last year he will take all the beating!
2 horses in focus tomorrow, both at Sandown - Williams Wishes and Melodic Rendezvous. Get on early and get on large
I see the Tolworth going only one way and that it to the Michael Buckley owned Royal Boy. He will have come on a fair bit from that Cheltenham reappearance and I will be looking for a Supreme Novice quote in the morning because that sort of a pace will suit him much better than the heavy crawl we saw last time out. Geraghty thinks he will handle the heavy ground better than the stablemate, but looking at the bigger picture I think he will love the quicker ground come Cheltenham in March. Looks a real bull of a horse who I think will be much better suiterd coming off a strong pace. I should think he will have a decision to make though with River Maigue being Supreme Novice bound also, and I may look at a price for the Neptune hurdle with Royal Boy also, because he looks like he will get 2 miles strongly.
The BET WITH RACING APP CONDITIONAL JOCKEYS HCAP HURDLE at Exeter on December has really produced some good formlines. The winner, Home run, has gone in 4 times since going from 89 to 114 in the process. The runner up, XAARCET, won at Exeter next time out. The fourth, RIPOFF, ran a belter this week when outbattled by the well in Storm Alert and the fifth, UMHIR A SEICHT, hosed up at Fontwell. Well the third placed horse runs tomorrow and any fool can see that following these formlines FRECKLE FACE 12-1 3.50 Wincanton must have a heck of a chance!
stick, why do you like miche le bon? rightly or wrongly the horse is a complete dodgepot for me. i can remember fat paul saying a few months ago that the horse absolutely hates chasing but his handicap mark is to high to go back hurdling. just wondering why stickwise makes this a bet? cheers.
I am leaving most alone due to the ground at present but having a play or two on the all weather and wanted to get this one up early. Lingfield 3.10 Ancient Greece 4-1 I think this horse has a great chance in an open race. He will need a good pace but if he gets it I feel he will take it up and stay on too well for anything else as he has won from a 7f to 10 f. He is not short of speed BUT he will certainly stay this distance well, better than some others. Take the 4-1 best odds.
He is very lightly raced for his age Hawkeye and I think he is a very decent animal. I also feel that conditions tomorrow will suit him pretty well. He is a potential improver in tomorrows race conditions, and you cant possibly back the Curtis horse at 3-1 now can you!
Nicholls did say at the beginning of the year that MICHEL LE BON could be a Welsh National horse, so I do expect a decent run from him. Really like Jadanli 33/1 e.w in these conditions. Chance he will find one too good, but big run at a big price. Ran nicely in some testing Irish conditions.
Just seen the AP McCoy feature on The Morning Line and he said the best horse he ever got beat on is Kauto Star. There'll be trouble brewing in Greenford ..................
Morning guys hopefully picked a safeish pick in KEPPOLS HILL 1.0 Chepstow if he doesn't fall he wins IMO around evens but double your money you can't complain. Your thoughts would be interesting cheers
One of those days where I like so many runners, probably strongest about Gavrey Chambertain who I will be watching down at Wincanton. Also like (on C4) Nozic Valco Du Touzaine Viking Blond Tartak
Have a good day at Wincanton Nass. That Mr Gardner looks interesting with a capital I as pointed out by Sir Barney, plus Stick makes a very good point on Freckle Face in the 3.50. Those 2 should see you coming home with a big smile on your face
Good news for Oddy, bad news for Toppy - I'm switching from Melodic Rendezvous to Royal Boy. I couldn't find a replay of their race last night but n ow I've seen one I think that RB will overturn the result. Sorry Topman
I have it very close between the 2 Reebs, both are likely to show further improvement from Cheltenham. I'm just siding with Melodic Rendezvous because 1) I backed him last time and 2) slightly better price. Should be a tremendous race.
