Interesting runner in the 4.45 at Wolves tomorrow in the form of MELODRAMA. Last ran in a backend Newmarket maiden. The three runners to have appeared since from the race have ALL won so the form seems at least half decent. Melodrama wasnt given a particularly hard ride and looks interesting upped in trip and now fitted in first time blinkers. Would be interested to hear from NASS if it has an all weather pedigree. No sign of a move for it this season but I have taken the 10-1 on offer and would hope to see the yard having a little dabble.
4.30 Windsor Benandonner 16/1 Although doubts exist about if he will be fully wound up for his seasonal reappearance, I think Mike Murphy's 9 year old looks very overpriced. Although he has needed the run in his past couple of seasons, he has run well fresh in the past so at the price I am willing to trust him on this facet. Benandonner races in a Class 4 handicap tomorrow and this represents his easiest task on turf for a long time, and is actually his first run since 2006 in this grade on turf where he finished a 0.25L beaten 2nd on his only start at the track. Last year, Benandonner was confined to Class 2 and 3 handicaps on the grass where he performed well, including a win in a Class 3 event off a 2lb higher mark as well as a very good 2nd in a Class 2 event off a 4lb higher mark and on the basis of that evidence he looks well handicapped. This tough front runner has Neil Callan on his back tomorrow, who has an outstanding record of 4 wins from 10 starts for the very much in form Murphy and thus looks a very good jockey booking. Moreover, on Callan's only previous ride on Benandonner he finished only beaten a length so the pair obviously get on well together. With the flat, galloping track sure to play to his strengths and having shown he goes well at Windsor before, if breaking well from stall 8 and getting a good early position I feel Benandonner could prove very difficult to pass against opponents who are at a lower level than he is used to facing.
I like Benandonner also ROTO, will back him early doors tomorrow, fancy he might be there with a shout if ready. Gluck to you.
I haven't been around this weekend so I haven't had time to have a full look at the race today, but the Hannon horse has been really well touted in the maiden whilst the Hills horse for me is slightly better bred for early season maidens. It reminds me of the Magic City race last year in some respects.
http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/footba...e-care-of-piermario-morosinis-disabled-sister What a sad story that is. Bad enough the lad passing away at such a young age and then the added on problems just makes it worse.
No love in the market for MELODRAMA so probably best left alone. I was looking for the blog NASS as I really like the Charlie Hills horse.
Morning, all. Nothing for me today. Was sickened by the Grand National at the weekend and canât see it surviving much longer. Iâm sure it has a couple of renewals left in it but beyond that canât really see it having much of a future. I see that the popularist media are once again referring to it as âthe death raceâ and would imagine that even a half hearted campaign to end the contest would see its demise. And I for one would not be sad to see it go. The BBC coverage meanwhile was dire (yesterdays âObserverâ is worth a read re this incidentally) and if I had backed the 2nd or 3rd home in the GN I would have been tearing my old hair out as the rides both received were Terrible with a capital âTâ. Meanwhile, how Katie Walsh puts up with been so patronised by the BBC (for the second year running as well incidentally) I have no idea given the volatile stock she hails from.
Stick, when the fizzy pop is bottled, is when he will be on. That later race is interesting because we have three horses in the race who could well be improvers early season, including the one you mention. The other two are the Mark Johnston runner and the Ed Dunlop one, the latter for me is the most interesting over this trip and would be my token selection. The Mark Johnston horse to me surely will improve over a couple of furlongs further, whilst the one you like needs to improve for the headgear. The surface should be fine for all three.
Blueblood of the Day: Ouija Board's second foal makes his debut in the 3yo Maiden at Windsor this afternoon (3.30). AEGAEUS is by Monsun, so is likely to be better with time, but the yard are in cracking form with 4 winners from 7 runners in the last 14 days, so 11/1 looks an interesting e/w price.
afternoon guys, what do the experts think of hannon's IMPEL in the second at windsor? i like channon's SERENE OASIS but cant make up my mind....c'mon guys and girls help me make my mind up please!!!

John Hunt pointed this poem out on ATR today and i think it is very nice and can be applied to the sport of Horse Racing especially after the national at the weekend. Risk taking is free To laugh is to risk appearing the fool To weep is to appear sentimental To reach out for another is to risk involvement To expose feelings is to risk exposing yourself To place your ideas, your dreams before the crowd is to risk their loss To love is to risk not being loved in return To hope is to risk despair To try is to risk failure. But the greater hazard in life is to risk nothing, They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow or love chained by certitudes, they are slaves who have forfeited freedom. Only a person who risks is Free. christina henry
It is a nice poem but there is one thing which may wipe out the sentiment of it with regard horse racing, there is only so much risk involved when you actually only own (if it's even possible) the horse and are not doing it yourself.... To risk must be of personal choosing or another word is altogether more appropriate.
gone with sticks and ROTOs small ew singles and double my mate, and the dons, Chris Dawson, owner, trainer and breader plus ptp jockey fractured his skull yesterday at a ptp, doing what he loves best he wont be asking for races to be banned, reduced or made easier, and i can tell you he loves horses beyond belief, thats what they do and they bring so much interest, pleasure and fun to us, joe public who love and follow the sport there are risks in all walks of life get busy living and enjoy it you only spin once stay frosty
Brilliant comments Dan. Spot on, and hope Chris is recovering from his accident (same in regards Noel Fehily too)
