With all the value topics going I couldn't resist starting the thread with a little twist . Catterick 350 lucky sunny 7/4 -2/1 inform Venitia could well be responsible fo this is it value though turned out quick to avoid any rise , surely any horse needs more than 6 days recovery after a long trip in the heavy especially an 11yr old . We will see though! The value to me looks like its in bocamix ew claiming jockey I know but has had plenty of experience onboard and the win is due also boca has had a good break , times to distance and weight all look good and the conditions should be ok . The 11/1 on offer will more than lightly drift . another that looks good is little jimmy at 7/1 Reverse forcast maybe Throw in turf trivia at 6/1 maybe for the all ways tricast
The power of the silks is clearly at play tomorrow at Lingfield in the 4.00. There is a Lady Cecil horse called Chantrea who although well bred has run just the once and was sent off an unfancied 16-1 and beaten 40 lengths into last in a Pontefract low grade maiden. Although it is only the exchanges pricing up at present she is in at 7-4 tomorrow. I can only presume it is the colour of the silks as she wears the mighty Niarchos colours. There is nothing to suggest she has any ability on form so far and so that price is shocking even if treading carefully. On the subject it never ceases to amaze me how short some Green jacket red cap Johnston horses go off compared to what the form book says they should be, before they sprint from the gate only to be knackered in the final furlong. I wish he would use more varied tactics at times.

Nice card over the county line at Newbury on Saturday. Interesting question re it must be if Pete The Feat performs creditably in the ‘Veterans Chase’ and is GN bound will old boys Charlie and Noel then have a falling out?!? Meanwhile, in the ‘lucky last’ Mr Nicholls set to unleash an unraced half-bro to Ptit Zig. Earthmoves is the beast in question.
Cheltenham going update from the nice Mr Claisse http://www.crunchsports.com/category/horse-racing/cheltenham-festival-going-odds-201402180015/
Might not have to wait that long, Wuby. Could make it to Aintree. Old boy Tizzard said ‘hopefully’ when asked on the subject. Lovely sporting words from Mr Henderson re Cue Card missing the CGC incidentally. Rather than dancing a merry jig, he announced somberly, "That's awful for them and it just goes to show it's a bloody difficult game. I'm very sorry for them." Some comfort there for the Tizzards, methinks. Cheltenham is though, people, cutting up terribly. First the Black Aeroplane and now the Cue Card.
The Cheltenham Gold Cup field is certainly cutting up. A lot of the big names will be absent. Sir Des Champs out of it as well, Al Ferof side stepping this, Cue Card now absent. Gutted for the Black Aeroplane too... Lets hope the Champion Hurdle field doesnt become too decimated..
You can add Flemenstar and Solwhit to the list of sad absentees from the festival - can't remember a year with so many top horses rules out. Is the wet winter in any way to blame?
Johnny Murtugh retires...!!! If his new career as a trainer be half as good as his riding career, then he will do very well...
