My adoptive home city of Plymouth is, I believe, the largest city in England never to have had a football team in the top flight. Currently in financial difficulties they are looking all at sea in League Two, with just a single point from their first seven games. What do you think will happen to them this season?
Just about hang on I think, Dev. Do they now hold that dubious, largest town/city, honour only since Hull became a Premier club?
Not only the biggest City in England not to have a top flight team but the biggest city in Europe! And yes we took that dubious honour off Hull City. It's about the only thing we've got to brag about a the moment! That's unless we can say at the end of this season 'biggest City in Europe not to have a team'. Regarding the poll if we overcome the financial problems and can get a half decent striker or two in on loan then we'll be OK as apart from a few horrors our general play isn't bad. Otherwise we are going to struggle.
They don't come much greener than me but I have just voted are heading for the Conference. Now my football predictions have always been crap so there is a bit of me hoping that if I say that then the opposite is bound to happen. Yesterdays match produced one save from their keeper. This was a misplaced cross into the box. That says it all really. We have no scorer and that is not a criticism of Feeney who is our one and only proven player in that position. He has not had one single chance this season at Home Park. There is nobody playing alongside him to assist or change the sort of play so he is basically on his own with no service. There are some useful kids in the squad but that is exactly what they are, kids. The problem is we are still in Admin and players are not getting paid. This affects who you can bring in and at the moment Reid has nothing to work with. I won't blame the squad or him and it is down to the Administrator and the prat he chose as the preferred bidder. Unless this is sorted out now then the squad will not be improved with any experience and the writing is on the wall even now.
I'm afraid that if things are not sorted PDQ then down we will go! Its not a nice thought. Would it going down to the conference make us the biggest in the division?
We just have to be grateful that the players turn up week in, week out donning a green shirt as not getting paid is causing them as well as the staff to lose their homes, having to sell their cars and move into other players homes in order to survive. Good, bad or indifferent I thank each and everyone for trying to save our club !
