Here are the daily mirrors player ratings. Not photo-shopped, all genuine.

I heard they were decent first half. They have the same problem we have had (and probably still do have), a soft centre which, when a goal goes in, gets exposed

In fairness this sort of the thing is the last thing I would have wanted pre-derby. Talk about providing them with a rocket to put up their backsides <doh> Ffs, Stevie Taylor last time out, now its the ****ing Mirror.
I dont know about you lot but I have a dreadful sense of foreboding about the match on Sunday

A draw. Both teams will be too scared to lose.

Last time Sunderland needed the result more than us and deserved it. Barring a howler in defence I think it will be 0-0.

As ever in football managers, coaches and all the other support staff can only do so much, ultimately it comes down to the players to take the plan and make it happen on the pitch, I read an article yesterday that felt Sunderland made a big mistake in not bringing in Gus straight away when Pasta De Cockup was sacked. In shielding him from the previous 2 games against top end teams he has been left with very little real time to work with the team prior to the derby, wisdom is that they were expected to pick points up at Swansea and get some momentum instead they now have to be in crisis mode. The Mirror are guilty of childish behaviour and infantile journalism, we shall see whether this along with the fervour that accompanies the derby provides the motivation for the Sunderland players, I for one will be very surprised if we do not win, I think that had we not had the loss of the player on Saturday that with an 11 v 11 against Liverpool we may very well have won that match. There may be other derby matches from the Premiership downwards but I have never thought that any others match the intensity that the Tyne Wear derby brings, I have lived and worked in both Manchester and Liverpool and whilst their various supporters feel that they are the most intense when it comes to these battles for the bragging rights each year there is nothing that can match the anticipation leading up to the match and the atmosphere in the cities and grounds of Newcastle and Sunderland on these most important match days.

On the contrary, I have a feeling the stage is set up for them to start their season against us really. They have a load of hard games and we're slap in the middle and they still haven't won one. If they don't beat us then they could end up setting up a new record for lowest points total, and I think that's something that's too good to be true.

<laugh> It is. That said I like the derbies (though we are from certain to stay up ourselves). If we do stay up and they are to go down, then I hope they do it in style and rightfully reclaim their record. Despite the doom and gloom, even if they did lose to us I still think they have time to turn it round.

    Agree here.
I'd like to see them stay up so that we have the banter still.

What about Joey Barton on Twitter defending the 5under1and players, saying calling them gutless was wrong and personal. But then Simon Bird responded with something like "well what would you call a bunch of players crying to the chairman to get the manager sacked? #gutless". Or words to that effect.

In games like this when Newcastle can really launch themselves out of trouble they rarely do.

I have also a sense of foreboding.

If Jimbo says we're going to win 3-1 that's good enough for me.
