Which, if true, will irk some - and delight others in equal(ish) measure. TBH, it's no more than I expected to hear, sink or swim http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/alex-neil-assured-over-norwich-7424658?4
If true, great, though the curse of the chairman's backing has oft been a harbinger of doom, I'd like to believe this as I think it will galvanise the team if they think he's staying and also allow Alex to relax a wee bit.
After the board's financial support for him only really coming in the January transfer window (albeit that I accept that probably is related to how we manage the accounts based on predicted league position) I think it's only fair. I do understand why some might feel that he should go. If we are five games to go and still in with a shot of staying up, and the board can find the sort of manager who would get that new manager bounce which might keep us up, I could see us getting rid of him. Otherwise, I think it's going to be pretty clear whether we are getting relegated within the next month or so and Neil will keep his job and get a fresh start in the Championship with us next season.
He can't build a dynasty at Carrow Road if he's not here. It's already started with the promising youngsters he's adding to the squad!
I'm glad to see those comments, not because of an AN love in, but because it indicates to me that the team are behind him. It seems to me that it's time to go for a manager when he loses the dressing room, rather than a string of poor results. As long as the team believes in him and respects him in that position, I say keep going.
Well if they missed put on 3 defensive targets this summer I can see where McNally is coming from its not entirely Neil's fault regardless and besides who else is there to replace him?
In this stick or twist scenario, we should stick IMO. AN will come good and as I have said with the 20th wealthiest budget in the league what can we genuinely expect. Give him a chance, a decent chance!
Good news for me, IF we get relegated I would rather have a young manager who has got us out of that league once before at the helm again rather an oldy on the managerial merry go round!
