The Manchester United manager complained that television companies have too much influence because they supply virtually all of the only thing that everyone involved actually cares about. Now, in order to protect the credibility of the game, he wants financial transactions at all levels to include either a few keepy-uppies or a penalty shoot-out. Describing money's relationship with football, he said: "It's like shaking hands with the devil. Except it's just Sky or occasionally the BBC and neither of them, as far as I know, possessed that wee lassie in The Exorcist. "But every year we are faced with the choice of having a huge amount of money or an absolutely huge amount of money and for some reason everyone, including me, always goes for the absolutely huge amount of money. "I don't know what we can do about it. I certainly don't want less money and I don't know anybody else who does. Meanwhile the prospect of us getting less money seems increasingly remote. We're all doomed." Meanwhile experts have backed Sir Alex in whatever it is he is actually trying to say. Professor Henry Brubaker from the Institute for Studies said: "Sir Alex rightly pointed out that because TV companies control the fixture list it can lead to a situation where professional athletes will spend 90 minutes running around and then have to do the same thing all over again three days later. "It's unconscionable."
